ANNOUNCE Requiem For the Faithful 2.0: The Remixes Album
SINGLE RELEASE DATE: 9th April
ALBUM RELEASE DATE: 21st May
LABEL: CP Records
Alt-jazz band ISQ will be sharing Emmanuelle’s remix for their lounge deep jazz house single ‘At The Seams’ on the 9th of April. The remix is taken from their upcoming album, Requiem For the Faithful 2.0: The Remixes, to be released on the 21st of May via CP Records. Born in Rio, raised in Miami and currently based in Milan, Emmanuelle is an enigmatic musician who has shied away from exposing too much of herself to mainstream social media. Despite this, she has been supported by BBC 6’s Mary Anne Hobbs and featured on Noiseprn, Glamour Italy, Vogue Italy and Rock It as well as the Youtube channel Saints Of Serenity. Emmanuelle has claimed over 14 million plays across streaming platforms, was considered one of the highlights at Eurosonic 2020, and was selected for Primavera Pro 2020.
ISQ had their second album, Too selected as a Time Out London’s Critics Choice and they have performed at the London Jazz Festival (2015, 2016 and 2018) before they went on to host several other sold-out shows. Their track ‘L.A.S. (Urchin Remix)’ (also taken from the upcoming album) premiered via Magnetic Magazine. The quartet received further support from BBC Radio Devon’s David Fitzgerald, Jumoke Fashola’s Inspirit show, BBC London Live as well as Jazz FM and publications CLASH Magazine, Electronic Groove and Madorasindahouse. The quartet feature Irene Serra (vocals), Richard Sadler (double bass), Naadia Sheriff (piano) and Chris Nickolls (drums). Irene Serra was born in Milan, grew up in Denmark before moving to London to study music.
Together, ISQ have gone on to release three widely celebrated albums since the start of the project, with this LP marking their 4th full-length album. While normally known for their alt-jazz style, Emmanuelle takes their sound and highlight it with modern elements, calling to mind the likes of St. Germain, Louie Vega and Moodyman.
Oozing with femininity and carrying a timeless charm, Emmanuelle’s remix of ‘At The Seams’ highlights the sensuality found within ISQ’s original single. The remix embraces the mysticism of a smokey lounge with the lights turned down and tender electronic grooves created live and in response to the singer’s freestyle vocals. A smooth whisky in hand and the knowledge that the future is both inevitable and filled with endless possibilities at the same time - ‘At The Seams (Emmanuelle Remix)’ strikes the perfect tone for both.
Emmanuelle shares her thoughts on the remix: "I think what drew me to "At The Seams" was the fact that it had a loose structure, it felt very free and had a catchy hook I wanted to play with. I wanted to keep the romantic feel of the original track so it didn’t need much…especially with those chords. I wanted them to stand out so I tried to simplify the bassline, I synthesised it so it was more moody. And l chopped some of the vocals to bring out a funkier element."
