SHARES ‘Another Life’ Single
RELEASE DATE: 1st November
LABEL: Guise Records
Bristol-based producer obylx has announced the release of his latest single, ‘Another Life’ on the 1st of November via Guise Records. The producer is known for his genre-melding monthly releases, which are currently building to his third full-length album Out Of The Woods that will be released in December. Recently, obylx had his track 'Alive' licensed to the new Shia LeBoeuf film 'The Tax Collector' and he has previously written bespoke soundtracks for Apple iPhone releases, Formula 1 Grand Prix highlights and O2 UK television adverts. The producer has racked up a staggering 5 million plays on Spotify alone and appears on their Chill Tracks playlist amongst others. His previous work as Odjbox has seen the producer rack up over 241 million streams globally.
obylx (an alias of producer Oliver Johnson) has been picked up by several tastemaker publications, with support from the likes of The Times (alongside Grimes, Stormzy and Harry Styles), CLASH Magazine, Medium, tmrw mag, Kaltblut Magazine, Northern Transmissions, Plastic Magazine, Hertz Magazine, Son Of Marketing and Bizzare. Airplay has come from several well-known radio stations including the BBC Radio 6’s Lauren Laverne, BBC Introducing in the West, Amazing Radio and NPR Music's Playlist. The eclectic producer’s sound is influenced by a wide spectrum of reference points, including the likes of David Bowie, Grandaddy, Radiohead, Phillip Glass, and Randy Newman, obylx deftly navigates deftly between obscurantism and pure genius.
In his latest release, ‘Another Life’, parallels can be drawn to the likes of Kygo, MGMT and Years & Years. Take a step back into the eighties, where flashing arcade games ruled the weekend and cheerful 8-bit tunes staked their claim on the airwaves. Here, you’ll find obylx, emerging once more with his monthly release and filling fans with unearned memories and nostalgia. ’Another Life’ embraces the escapism of games whilst maintaining upbeat, pop elements that will drive all listeners to the dancefloor.
obylx tells us about the inspiration behind the single, “The idea that in another life your story could be different”.
