‘Dotted Red’

RELEASE DATE: 28th May

LABEL: Folkestad Recordings

Noteworthy electronic producer Jerry Folk is releasing his drum & bass single, ‘Dotted Red’ featuring his side project FENGSEL on the 28th of May via Folkestad Recordings. The single follows the release of ‘Everything’ andOn My Waywhich both mark a new direction for Jerry Folk’s sound and precede the release of his first full-length later this year. Jerry Folk has remixed the likes of Billie Eilish, Charlie Puth and Oh Wonder and produced for artists like Alina Baraz, Axwell Ingrosso and Lemaitre to name but a few. Having toured the US multiple times, Jerry Folk has opened for Odesza, played at Coachella and the Mixmag lab twice and earned over 222 million plays across streaming platforms.

Oslo born and based, Jerry Folk has always been a traveller at heart, having lived in Islington, London as a baby for 6 months and frequently returning to visit friends and family. For nearly three years, the artist also found himself living in LA. The producer has received support from publications such as Clash Magazine, Complex, Highsnobiety, Dancing Astronaut, Ones To Watch, Your EDM, This Song Is Sick, and Magnetic Magazine, to name a few.

As he embarks on his new journey, Jerry Folk finds inspiration in artists from the Soulection roster, Toro Y Moi, James Blake, Majid Jordan and Flume. ‘Dotted Red’ calls to mind a unique combination of Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and u-Ziq.

‘Dotted Red’ breaks away from Jerry Folk’s previous single and dives into the flowing and distorted world of the bass driven experimental, grasping at rhythmically rolling tones and vibing overlapping vocals. A nod to the underground world of London here, a glistening form of rebellion there and Jerry Folk in the centre with a soul stirring groove to keep you going.

Speaking of his new single, Jerry Folk tells us: "To me, the song captures a lot of energies I love from the UK music scene. From Arctic Monkeys to Jamie XX, Burial and the UK Jungle and drum n bass stuff. I love breaks and pitched R&B vocals and wanted to mix them with the same synth palette that I have been using from my prophet 8 the past years."
