Renowned experimental artist Venetian Snares has remixed Vincenzo Ramaglia’s song, ‘La parole 2’ featuring Laure Le Prunenec (lead singer of French band Igorrr). The remix will be released on the 16th of October via PEM Records. The single follows the release of renowned techno artist and label head Emika’s remix of ‘La parole 4’ as well as previous remixes by the likes of Planet Mu label head, μ-Ziq, Ghostly International’s leading artist Shigeto.

Venetian Snares has reached legendary status with features in the New York Times, BBC, CBC, Vice, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound, PopMatters, Fact Mag, CLASH Magazine, Magnetic Magazine, Electronic Beats and Mixmag. The Canadian prides himself with pushing boundaries and denying any kind of classification. As such, his music is unique and ultimately within a league of its own. Other artists who are also pushing similar boundaries include the likes of Aphex Twin, μ-Ziq, Squarepusher and Autechre.

Speaking of the remix, Venetian Snares tells us, “Sometimes, when tasked with doing a remix, one of two things happens. Either the material is not inspiring and I will just say no, or alternatively agree and just process it all until it's unrecognizable and go from there. In the case of La Parole 2, neither applies. The music spoke to me and I felt immediately I had a response. I wanted to interface. I wanted to start a family with this music, grow vegetables and groom a herd of horses together. Lay under the stars, laughing and crying until the sun comes up.“

Venetian Snares embraces Laure Le Prunenec’s distinctive vocals and allows them to become the focal point multiple times throughout the remix, with meticulous manipulation of complex breakbeats at high BPM and odd time signatures, serving to highlight each rise and fall in her voice. At times scattered and erratic while coming together in breathtaking complexity at other points, the remix requires time to devour with each listen revealing a new and unexpected aspect of the song.

With a solid academic, orchestral and humanistic background, Roman composer and electronic musician Vincenzo Ramaglia is currently active on his own label PEM (Popular Experimental Music), often in collaboration with exponents of the avant-garde music. In Ramaglia's music the most restless and elusive rhythms of IDM can be traced, analog sequences composed on the machines all manipulated in real-time, handling the setup as a musical instrument and bringing to mind echoes of Autechre, Björk, Arvo Pärt, Radiohead and Sigur Rós.
