Accompanied by Live video at Montpellier Opera
RELEASE DATE: 18th June
LABEL: SmallFishBigSea
Renowned music producer and DJ Joris Delacroix has collaborated with producer CEBB on their latest single, ‘Need Your Attention’ out now via SmallFishBigSea. The single is accompanied by a live video shot in the historic Montpellier Opera, which is one of France’s national opera houses. Most recently, Joris Delacroix released his catchy single ‘Early Hours’ featuring Run Rivers. Well known for his house music, the producer has performed live at Cercle’s Rooftop performance series and received support from Youtube channel The Sound You Need as well as numerous publications including Dancing Astronaut, Deep House Amsterdam, Billboard Italia, When We Dip, FLAUNT Mag and DJ Mag France to name a few. Joris Delacroix has earned over 63 million plays between Spotify and Youtube to date.
Long time resident of club Barlive After in France, CEBB is a good friend and provides great inspiration to Joris Delacroix, with his DJ sets and extensive knowledge of the musical world. Born and based in Montpellier, France, Joris Delacroix also draws inspiration from the likes of Daft Punk, Paul Kalkbrenner, Stefan Bodzin, Claude VonStroke, Stuart Price, David August, Maceo Plex, Rone, Rodriguez Jr, to name a few. ‘Need Your Attention’ calls to mind the likes of Jon Hopkins, Trentemøller and Lapalux.
Stepping away from the lighthearted tones of his previous single, Joris Delacroix keeps one hand firmly on his deep house roots as he ventures into the world of the experimental. Composed during a writing camp, the ‘Need Your Attention’ is about an aspect of the artist’s condition that creates a visceral need of expressing themselves and the internal trouble it can create sometimes when the need is not fulfilled. The video provides poignant insight: a stark reflection of the industry during lockdown. In the centre stage of an empty theatre, Joris Delacroix and fellow producer CEBB appear. Tradition soaked walls draped in memories vibrate with new, experimental tones begging for love and attention.
Speaking of the single, Joris Delacroix tells us: “When we started composing ‘Need Your Attention’, it was a very special moment. We were in a big old mansion at a winery in the south of France, and feeling both happy to be here, making music with friends, and also kind of sad because of the covid situation. These mixed emotions define the mood of the track. CEEB and I come from House and Techno music backgrounds but this track was not made for dance floors, because we thought there was no use to make another “DJ track” as there were actually no gigs to play it. We tried to make music differently to still get people’s attention because, in the end, as artists, this is something we need.”
The producer further elaborates on the video, “It was so exciting to shoot this video. This was the first time I’ve performed live together with Cebb. In my career as a solo artist, I haven’t had many opportunities to play live with other musicians. So it was quite challenging on the artistic and technical aspects.”
