Multitalented musician KID BE KID released her new concept album, Truly A Life Goal But No Ice Cream, on the 9th of June via Fun In The Church. The project is available on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms and features the already-released singles ‘News Feed’ and ‘Naked Times’. On the project, listeners will find the song ‘Move’, which was premiered by CLASH Magazine, shared along with a mesmerising video.

KID BE KID has been a celebrated sensation for years for her live performances, so it’s no wonder that she is only too happy to make fun of all the boring online productions, including bloated self-marketing in her lyrics: « You’ll have to post 5 times a week, at least 5 videos and one pic. If not, your audience won’t grow ». But since we have all become little self-marketing monsters with the desire for constant virtual pats on the back, she directs this criticism primarily at herself: « Of course: for love, everybody seeks, but it makes me sick to do so too, » she says in the song ‘News Feed’.

Originating from Berlin, Germany, pianist, singer, and human beatbox KID BE KID was raised by professional musicians. Her parents only listened to classical music, so she recorded her favourite songs off the radio and explored her taste in secrecy. Later, she learned to play the piano but disliked staring at the sheet music.

At 19, KID BE KID found freedom from the confines through Jazz improvisation, which led her to experiment with aspects of Neo Soul, Hip Hop, and Pop. Recently, she sang on several scores for the 2022 Netflix film Rumspringa. Drawing influence from Little Simz, Frank Ocean, and Kaytranada, her music brings together chosen elements of H.E.R and Frank Ocean as well as live-performance acts Jacob Collier and DOMi & JD BECK.

Amaroun

New single « This is Sin »

The artists’ moniker Amaroun is a play on words that embodies immense strength and the overcoming of obstacles. A descendant of the legendary Maroons – a powerful group of self-emancipated slaves that settled in Jamaica – Amaroun has resilience coursing through her very veins. A musician, poet, filmmaker, and self-taught producer, when Amaroun has her sights set on something, nothing will stop her from shining.

‘This Is Sin’ is no different. Growing up in a religious Jamaican-British family, for so long Amaroun repressed who she was. Lyrically, it was inspired by her own life long battle with familial homophobia and coming to terms with my identity whilst falling madly in love.

Speaking of the track, she says, “I’m a storyteller, everything I write is deliberately sharing a story or something I’ve learnt. I remember at the time I was in an out of a conversation with my fiance about deep familial homophobia and about the experience of me or other any person experiencing this amount of oppression, the gaslight of someone being taught that their whole identity, my identity, is a sin is completely and utterly insidious, leaking in to every fibre of your being and that conversation was the catalyst to me sitting in front of Logic l and having to eject this feeling out my system.

The song is purposefully sonically pleasant and peaceful while the lyrics and the undercurrent of the song is actually really sad as that feels so true to how these things play out in our lives, good mixed with bad.

The different layers of feelings, of love, of shame, of joy and guilt all fizz together in a nostalgic fuzzy bubble. All the missed conversations, all the unsaid things, the beautiful moments and all the things not understood circling around a pure love.

It’s essentially a lullaby that I want people to sing along to with me so we can all be reminded “It’s okay, you’re going to get through, it’s going to be alright, it will be worth it in the end.”

Called « Beautiful Disease » the song is about the fact that « too much of anything will make you sick.’ From Disney movies and Hallmark classics, we often develop idealized views of love. When love morphs into idealization and obsession, it can become like an addiction and lead to toxic relationships, extreme jealousy and revenge. The song and music video portray the story of a woman who travels down this dark road which turns her reality into a nightmare, » confides Roskamala.

Singer/songwriter, producer, screenwriter and actor Roskamala is set to make her mark as a creative visionary with her thoughtful musical releases full of evocative storytelling wrapped in a unique sonic fusion. Born and raised in Thailand, Roskamala became an actress and fashion TV host. Realizing that her dream was to pursue music full time, the songwriter moved to the United States and teamed up with acclaimed Grammy award-winning producers Ghian Wright (Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Janet Jackson, Foo Fighters) and Robert L. Smith (Lady Gaga, David Bowie, U2) for her debut EP.

Roskamala’s new EP entitled truth she told, is an existential narrative on the trials and tribulations of what it is like to be human and how our experiences shape who we are. She confides, “We all have our own stories to tell of good times and bad times. We tend to focus too much on the bad times, but one thing I believe in is hope. You will find this in every one of my songs if you have the right attitude and learn from our shared experiences. Life can be tough but we all have the power to make it better and create a wonderful future.” Roskamala brilliantly relays these extreme emotions in relatable narratives, touching the listener and inspiring them to try and find hope and understanding that they’re not alone in every struggle. Leading single “Kiss Me Amnesia” is a dark alt-pop song that delivers a stirring message about the ghosts of the past and the burdensome effects of unhealed trauma. The single explores the concept of two co-existing worlds, Reality and Amnesia World, that connect the past and present through a karmic bond where former relationships, repressed feelings and damaging patterns all intertwine in a fateful experience. She confides, “The message is that if you don’t make peace with your past it will always haunt your future reality.” Euphoric and moody, “Kiss Me Amnesia” features intimate vocals that glide effortlessly over cinematic dipped electronic soundscapes for a beautifully raw and introspective musical journey.

Roskamala confides the single, « was written from acceptance and self-awareness. This song is about the inner war to be free. »

Called « Bull In A China Shop » the song was written during lockdown when everything was beginning to feel scary, confusing and weird. Party Nails confides, « I had so many weird dreams about basically all of the scary and hard stuff I’d ever lived through, and I would write about it. I thought this song was about someone from my past. But now I’m realizing it’s about me too. I wanted the production to emulate that image and overall sense of confusion, and to somehow be fun in spite of the dark subject matter. »

Before she was Party Nails, Elana Carroll was a guitar-toting tween songwriter, playing any open mic she could near her hometown of Chatham, New York. Performing solo or with a band of seasoned adult players backing her up, she wailed lyrics about her family’s divorce, dreams of leaving her small town, and a then-undiagnosed anxiety disorder across biker bars and community centers, often met with tears from patrons moved by her fearless expression of raw emotion. At home she recorded herself with Garageband, instigating a love of music technology which continues to this day.

Party Nails debuted in 2015 on Neon Gold’s famed blog with “Break”, a heartbreak dancepop single clearly inspired by happysad classics such as “Dancing On My Own” and “Blue Monday”. In 2016 on Vice’s Noisey blog Party Nails debuted “No Pressure”—think Haim instrumentation paired with Taylor Swift melodies—before leaving a 360 deal and rebuilding independently. Her first full-length Past Lives and Paychecks was equal parts collaborations—Caleb Shreve, Ryan Nasci, Mereki Beach, among others—and self-produced, engineering and playing guitar, bass, synthesizers and programming electronics alone in her home studio. Her first US tour in 2017 (with PVRIS and Lights) ushered in a devoted fanbase, and her live performances continue to be a core facet of her artistry, being equal parts Madonna, Hayley Williams, and Sheryl Crow. In the studio, though, her muses are Robyn, Prince, SZA and Dolly Parton, to name a few.

Since 2020 Party Nails has penned a song about period pride for Kathryn Hahn’s character to sing for Loren Bouchard’s Apple animated series Central Park, wrote and produced the Le Tigre-infused “Supernatural” for feminist rock duo Deap Vally, and continued to lend her vocals to other musicians (LŪN and Urban Heat both released music featuring Party Nails in 2022).

2023 started off with a bang with “Like U », a collaboration with Austin-based Boy Sim that PAPER called « reminiscent of ’90s and early-2000s rave music ». Her second single of 2023, Bull In A China Shop, comes with an announcement of a west coast tour in July with San Francisco-based Gloomy June. Will there be more dates later in the year? La compositrice luxembourgeoise Claire Parsons nous dévoile son nouveau projet et deuxième album The Aquatic Museum, un disque inspiré par les œuvres de Sufjan Stevens, Emiliana Torrini et Agnes Obel.

Ce projet collaboratif invite les auditeurs à se plonger dans les secrets des mondes aquatiques inexplorés. Les cordes, les instruments électroniques, les chœurs, les enjeux de piano délicats et les riffs de guitare captivants, créent un son qui évoque une plongée dans les profondeurs marines.

Pour cet album hors norme, Claire Parsons s’est entourée du musicien luxembourgeois Laurent Peckels, de l’altiste américaine et chef du trio à cordes bruxellois Nicole Miller, de la violoniste belge Maia Frankowski, de la violoncelliste luxembourgeoise Annemie Osborne, du batteur et pianiste franco-luxembourgeois Jérôme Klein, du guitariste israélien Eran Har Even, ainsi que du big band belge Q-Some Big Band.

Après nous avoir fait découvrir Large Pleasure Watercraft, Trash Tub et Entrance, The Aquatic Museum nous fait explorer les fonds marins avec Trapped Air Bubbles, emmené par les incroyables images marines de la photographe Audrey Cudel.

Claire Parsons est une compositrice et musicienne luxembourgeoise d’origine britannique. Après avoir étudié le piano classique et jazz, la guitare classique et électrique et le chant classique, elle a obtenu son master en Jazz au Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, sous la supervision du chanteur de jazz belge David Linx et du pianiste Diederik Wissels.
Sa participation à de nombreux projets en tant que musicienne et compositrice lui a permis de jouer sur de nombreuses scènes et festivals nationaux et internationaux, et lui ont permis d’être remarquée par des professionnels, magazines et radios du monde entier.
Après la parution de son premier EP OnOff avec le Claire Parsons & Eran Har Even Duo en 2019, elle a sorti son premier album In Geometry avec son quintet en mai 2020. L’album a été chaleureusement accueilli par la presse et radios.
Claire Parsons prépare actuellement son nouveau projet et deuxième album The Aquatic Museum, un projet collaboratif qui se décline en disque et en application numérique pour transporter les utilisateurs dans un monde aquatique original, dessiné à la main par Astrid Rothaug.
L’Aquatic Museum Band associe habilement la palette de couleurs de l’harmonie du jazz, l’élégance d’un ensemble de chambre et l’énergie d’un groupe de pop. Des compositions élaborées avec soin nous entraînent dans un voyage qui réinvente soigneusement le son de la pop.

Elegant Singer-songwriter Lilith Merlot released her sophomore EP, Shades Of Blue, on the 26th of May via Lilith Merlot Records. On the project, listeners will discover the impassioned lead single ‘White Lies’, which premiered on METAL Magazine. The EP follows her previously released singles ‘Easier to Fight’ and ‘Compromised’.

With nearly 5 million streams across platforms, her music has aired across a number of stations under the established Netherlands public broadcaster NPO, earning spins on NPO Soul & Jazz, where she has previously featured as a guest speaker, and NPO 3FM Radio. In the past, she has performed live on the Roodshow on NPO Radio 2, NPO Radio 5, NPO Radio 1. Not to mention airing on Sublime FM. While on Spotify, her music has landed on the editorial playlist Sad Covers.

Known for her timeless voice, Dutch singer and songwriter Lilith Merlot has been enchanted by harmony and melody from a young age. Her mother was a classical violinist and, as a young girl, Lilith often joined her mother on tour through Europe. At just 5 years old, she had her first stage experience when her mother, running late for her performance at the Royal Albert Hall, was unable to drop Lilith and her brother at the opera box where they were meant to sit during her performance. To make light of the situation, the conductor invited young Lilith to join him on stage while the audience applauded. It remains an important moment for the singer and her development as a musician.

During her Jazz vocals studies at the Rotterdam Conservatory, Lilith performed in front of American singer Renée Neufville (known for her work with Roy Hargrove, RH Factor), who remarked: “Your voice is just like a Merlot; it’s so warm, deep, and round”. This inspired Lilith to use Merlot as her stage name. Since releasing her debut EP in 2017, Lilith has been experimenting with various genres, from Jazz to Pop and Soul, influenced by Lizz Wright, Jeff Buckley, and Norah Jones, to name a few, creating music reminiscent of Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, and Madeleine Peyroux.

In her new EP, Lilith Merlot delves into the deeper meanings of the colour blue. With her remarkable abilities, she has distilled the pain of heartbreak in 5 emotionally evocative tracks, crooning with breathtaking ease and exhibiting awe-inspiring vocal agility.

Lilith Merlot says: “I started writing the songs on this EP after a very unexpected and painful breakup. I found myself not being able to talk about it, so I sat down behind the piano and wrote my way through it. Some of the piano ballads on this EP are quite vulnerable, but you can clearly hear a shift to a lighter shade of blue toward the end. For example, in the groovy, soulful Pop song White Lies, in which I sing: ‘I refuse to remember you in this dark shade of blue, you can take it all from me, but I’m keeping the memories.’”
