MARLOW

New single « Over »

Spotify

MARLOW is a project headed by Eastbourne singer, songwriter and model, Freddie Marlow. Creating a sonic world which is purely about a feeling, the music speaks from the depths of his heart and is delivered with a hint of mystique. Although led by Freddie, MARLOW is still a completely collaborative effort, with a band of musicians made up of Angus (Guitar), Seb (Bass), Archie (Synth) and Liam (Drums) who work closely alongside Freddie on everything. Together MARLOW sucks listeners in through a dynamic surge and zesty, modern approach. With an infectious alt, pop rock sound and emotional, heartfelt lyrics, MARLOW provides you with a soundtrack to help get through the ups and downs of life, alleviate sadness and reflect on everything we experience as humans.

Off of the upcoming EP,

Home

, due later this year, MARLOW unveils “Over”. A hugely uplifting song that aims to paint a picture of someone trying to hold on to something/someone too tight and hoping the other doesn’t let go. “Over” features an incredibly catchy chorus and inspiring atmosphere. “It’s a plea to another to hold on,” confides Freddie. The single is also accompanied by an ingenious video directed by William Pope.

Offering some backstory to this track, Freddie explains, « This song was inspired by real events in my relationship/relationships. There are times when communication breaks down and I feel like at any moment the other person may fall through my hands. In the verses I’ve tried to paint the picture of myself looking at someone and searching for all the things I would like to say, but as I try to say them I feel as if my hands are tied. It’s not a depressing song, it’s uplifting and the pounding drums and shiny synths reflect the fight. The simplistic lyrics will allow the listener to think, reflect and feel. »

Also off of the EP is “I’m Not Leaving”, a song which shimmers with an echoing guitar line, warm, emotional vocals and a driving, uplifting chorus. Emphasising the importance of being there for the one you love, Freddie shares, “This track was inspired by my girlfriend going through a tough time. It’s basically me saying, ‘I’m here for you no matter what’”.

Speaking further on his writing process, Freddie reveals, “I’m heavily inspired by emotional moments in film and TV. I try to visualise all of my songs as though they are being played behind an emotional scene (sad, happy or dramatic) in a movie or TV show. I’m also inspired by relationships; in particular my own, and enjoy writing emotionally driven songs that describe my feelings toward a situation”.

MARLOW has had the privilege of performing at The Isle of Wight Festival and has also received support from the likes of

Wonderland Magazine

and

Earmilk

, as well as national radio play on John Kennedy ́s Radio X show. They will be returning to The Isle of Wight Festival River Stage this year. With the upcoming release of the highly anticipated EP, as well as a headline show at The Old Blue Last in London on May 19th, 2023 is set to be an exciting year for MARLOW.

EARMILK

“This track gets you into the groove with starry synths and a blood-pumping drum beat that will attract the young and the wild.”

WONDERLAND

“Featuring thick instrumentation, laden with the thump of the drum and the surge of electric guitars. It is instantly planted firmly in the indie genre with its infectiously relatable narrative, making the project all the more special.”

roskamala shares her new video chameleon courtney knott

Roskamala shares her new video « Chameleon » Courtney Knott.

Roskamala & Courtney Knott

New video « Chameleon »

Roskamala shares, « Chameleon’ is the most deeply intense song I have ever written. I wrote it when I was questioning whether the life I had was meant for me, imagining what life would be like if I was truly free, physically & spiritually. This song is about the inner war to be free. You find yourself in the most unhappy place, unsure of how you got there or how to begin the fight. » The poignant music video touches upon the suffering caused from domestic abuse.

Singer/songwriter, producer, screenwriter and actor Roskamala has made her mark as a creative visionary with her thoughtful musical releases full of evocative storytelling wrapped in a unique sonic fusion. Born and raised in Thailand, Roskamala became an actress and fashion TV host. Realizing that her dream was to pursue music full time, the songwriter moved to the United States and teamed up with acclaimed Grammy award-winning producers Ghian Wright (Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Janet Jackson, Foo Fighters) and Robert L. Smith (Lady Gaga, David Bowie, U2) for her debut EP.

Roskamala’s new EP entitled

truth she told

, is an existential narrative on the trials and tribulations of what it is like to be human and how our experiences shape who we are. She confides, “We all have our own stories to tell of good times and bad times. We tend to focus too much on the bad times, but one thing I believe in is hope. You will find this in every one of my songs if you have the right attitude and learn from our shared experiences. Life can be tough but we all have the power to make it better and create a wonderful future.” Roskamala brilliantly relays these extreme emotions in relatable narratives, touching the listener and inspiring them to try and find hope and understanding that they’re not alone in every struggle. Sonically,

truth she told

features a variety of genres including dark pop, R&B, rock, and even soul for an intoxicating collection of songs.

Leading single “Kiss Me Amnesia” is a dark alt-pop song that delivers a stirring message about the ghosts of the past and the burdensome effects of unhealed trauma. The single explores the concept of two co-existing worlds, Reality and Amnesia World, that connect the past and present through a karmic bond where former relationships, repressed feelings and damaging patterns all intertwine in a fateful experience. She confides, “The message is that if you don’t make peace with your past it will always haunt your future reality.” Euphoric and moody, “Kiss Me Amnesia” features intimate vocals that glide effortlessly over cinematic dipped electronic soundscapes for a beautifully raw and introspective musical journey.

“Loving Mess featuring Lia Apa” is a vibrant and colorful pop anthem about accepting your own faults and moving confidently in the game of love. With soul-drenched soaring vocals over bright kaleidoscopic soundscapes, “Loving Mess” is a playful and teasing song about daring someone to entice us. Roskamala confides the single, « was written from acceptance and self-awareness. You are what you think and what if we can surprise ourselves with a new discovery and break the cycles by thinking differently. Seeing our flaws positively. What if we fail 1000 times and 1001st time we succeed? It’s worth failing, isn’t it? Instead of worrying about the future or our issues, the song turns it into a game of love. »

“Beautiful Disease” is a slow-burning passionate song all about love and obsession and “being in a situation where you are trapped…you want to get out but you can’t,” confides the singer. Roskamala’s seductive honey-dipped vocals flow over intoxicating melodies for a vulnerable song about yearning and escape.

“Out of The Maze” is a song all about living against the norms. With decadent electronic pop landscapes under colliding melodies full of heart, “Out of The Maze” is a dance pop banger sure to entice with every note.

“Chameleon” is a gorgeous ballad full of soulful melodies and delicate piano. The track is all about the relatable theme of being a people pleaser and being trapped in a situation to where one looses their identity. Roskamala confides, « I wrote it when I was questioning whether the life I had was meant for me, imagining what life would be like if I was truly free, physically & spiritually. This song is about the inner war to be free. »

A true artist, Roskamala is dynamic and mult-faceted. Her debut album is imaginative and creative, capturing the essence of love, loss and new beginnings.

Ferielle

«

J’avais envie de faire un clip rigolo à regarder autant qu’à faire

» a explique

Ferielle

. «

Ferielle

qui sort le 12 mai et s’intitule

l’eau qui dort

Dea Doyle

New single “Over You”

Spotify

“Over You” narrates leaving a relationship, feeling like you no longer need anyone. Featuring warm honey vocals which glide over a punchy drumline and jangly melodic guitars, « Over You » delivers an overall gritty edge.

Dea Doyle is a singer/songwriter from West London. Born into a household of music, Dea always knew she wanted to be an artist, having written her first song at just nine years old. Inspired by the likes of Carole King, Haim, Fleetwood Mac and Hall & Oates, she offers quick-witted lyrics about life, love and heartbreak, yet always with a memorable chorus.

Her latest single “Over You” narrates leaving a relationship, feeling like you no longer need anyone. The songwriter confides, “I wrote this song at a time in my life where I felt liberated, thinking if I can get over someone I once loved then maybe I’ll never need anyone ever again. At the very end of the song I do flip the idea on its head and question whether I truly am over them, but on a whole it’s about feeling emotionally detached and regaining my independence.”

Beginning with raw snippets of background sounds of children playing, “Over You” features Dea’s impressive, warm honey vocals which glide over a punchy drumline and jangly melodic guitars delivering an overall gritty edge. Channeling 90’s rock/pop artists including Alanis Morrisette and Cheryl Crow, “Over You” emits a similar grungy, angsty sound.

Hoping to encourage listeners to leave toxic relationships that are no longer serving you, Dea wants you to know there’s always better out there. Dea expresses, “On a whole I would like my music to celebrate women in particular and urge them to be unapologetic for who they are and just to have fun really.”

With a couple of releases under her belt, and as an active performer around London, Dea Doyle is set for an exciting 2023.

Reya shares her new single “Kinda Like It”

Reya

New single “Kinda Like It”

Spotify

Reya is a London based dark pop artist whose music speaks from the depths of her heart. With Chilean heritage, Reya is originally from Norway but grew up in Spain, resulting in her rich, multicultural upbringing being a key ingredient to her unique style and sound. Her roots play a huge role in her story, with the artist having recently rebranded after previously creating music under a different name.

Reya’s journey to where she is today has been a rollercoaster. Over the last year, the singer, songwriter and producer found herself in the midst of studying final bachelor year in Music production, releasing 6 singles, played on Norwegian national radio and BBC introducing, several shows in London – with the highlight of supporting the Norwegian treasure DAGNY at her London show, and her following show in Norway. Only to have the music taken down… As a result of all this, REYA without the AND returns.

Starting a new chapter under a new name, the artist is finally creating music that she has complete control over, with people that she loves. She explains, “The underlying theme in my new music is essentially taking back control. Step by step, and one way of doing so, was by saying no thank you to certain behaviours and taking charge. This change can be so difficult, however living for someone else and not yourself is even more difficult in the long run. Choosing yourself is always worth the growing pains.” The new sound is much more raw and real, expressing strength over oneself and being reminded of the fact that endings also simultaneously mean new beginnings.

Following the release of her unapologetic track “attention” which narrates owning who you are, Reya now unveils the dark and fiery “Kinda Like It”. The single sees the artist fighting back, as she puts herself in the villains shoes after being disrespected for too long and realising she actually kinda likes it. Sonically, the track emits a shadowy and eerie energy, as a menacing beat and mischievous lyrics transport listeners to the dark side of Reya.

Reya confides, “It was written during a time when I felt like I constantly got wronged by a person, and I put up with it for too long. I wanted to envision myself doing the same bad things to them as they did to other people. However, my mom raised me well enough to only imagine giving out such bad karma through a song, which was good enough for me. Essentially, it’s a way of taking the power back from, and giving it to yourself, and kinda liking the control that comes with it.”

Having garnered acclaim from the likes of

Earmilk, Wonderland Magazine

and

Atwood Magazine

, to name a few, this new chapter for Reya is already proving to be an explosive one.

viisi & Chelsea Collins

New single “Chasing Ghosts”

Spotify

The single is a visceral and melancholic profile on relationships falling apart and the memories that come back to haunt you. Over spectral reverbs and ethereal echoes, viisi and Collins cultivate an illuminated vocal wonderland that glides effortlessly over the track.

With a unique blend of cathartic vocals and atmospheric acoustics, the single leaves you feeling breathless. viisi admits, “‘Chasing Ghosts’ is a turning point in my career. It represents my dedication to keep pushing myself as an artist….we made a beautiful song that perfectly represents our personal struggles with our own relationships falling apart.”

From his upcoming EP

Episode 1: Autophobia,

which dives deep into his core memories, exploring his innermost emotions as a multi-dimensional and dynamic artist, « Chasing Ghosts » is full of thought-provoking lyrics and a wavering beat that lingers long after the music’s over.

Good things come in fives. Dropping his first rough cut as a high school freshman when he was just fourteen, Matthew Borley, couldn’t have known that five years later he’d be touring Europe, playing packed-out shows in the South of France.

Initially sparked by his father during his teenage years, he was Introduced to select verses from ‘90s hip hop pioneers and most controversial rapper of his time, Eminem, Matthew was profoundly impacted by his connection to Hip Hops cutting and unapologetic persona. Being put on the likes of Eminem, while most of Em’s lyrics were PG-13 at best, his father was careful to only show his son lines that connect at a deeper level from cuts like classic “Stan”. Not satisfied with only hearing bits and pieces, viisi did what any typical adolescent would do: he snuck out an old laptop and dove deep down the hip hop rabbit hole. Eminem led to Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre to Tupac. Tupac to Biggie. Soon enough, Matthew’s obsession provided an escape that quickly evolved and made way for viisi.

Based on the Finnish word for “five”, viisi represents past, present, and future. viisi returns to push the boundaries of what it means to be an artist in his upcoming ‘Liiminal’ series. Through his powerful and raw storytelling, his music transcends across unique and universal human experiences that have shaped him as an artist and individual. With a lyrical honesty and unwavering dedication to his craft, viisi is unafraid to delve into his personal experiences such as family struggles, fallouts with loved ones, career choices, failing, self-worth and more. Writing prose with messages of life and dreams and of merit and substance, his visceral approach to the story of his evolution will surely leave fans moved and stunned.

Vanity Mirror

Announce Debut LP “PUFF”

With Advance Video-Single “

Dandelion Wish

Vanity Mirror, dreamy lo-fi bedroom pop via Toronto and Los Angeles, have just announced their highly anticipated debut LP

PUFF

(due out Spring 2023 on We Are Busy Bodies) with an advance single and video for the song

Dandelion Wish

.

Dandelion Wish

features colorful piano riffs and artful backbeats from Vanity Mirror’s Brent Randall (Gentle Brent, Electric Looking Glass) and percussionist Johnny Toomey (The Turns, Electric Looking Glass). Randal describes

Dandelion Wish

as “a sophisticated bedroom pop ditty for wayward situationships. It’s the second single from Vanity Mirror’s debut album PUFF; a vulnerable collection of homespun pop experiments. This lo-fi flower-ballad blends soft nylon strumming with sparkling electric jangle; playful mellotron flourishes with an urgent quirksome rhythm section. Catch a ray of sun in your window and whistle along”. Listeners will hear careful nods to The Kinks, Idle Race and The Raspberries delicately weaved into the hook-filled composition.

The music video for

Dandelion Wish

was made with L.A. based graphic designer/videographer extraordinaire Mat Dunlap and shot on a Sony handycam to get that super lo-fi look. Randal explains, “We always loved the look of

Big Bang Baby

by the Stone Temple Pilots and wanted something like that. This turned out a little different but still has that vibe. Johnny and I have a great love of fashion and large wardrobes so we planned out all these different monochromatic outfits that matched the little set we made in the photo studio. So as we perform the song our outfits magically change from matching satin pink, velvet green, denim blue etc. I think it’s pretty fun. It kind of comes off as an early 80’s local public television children’s show. It’s kind of odd but it matches our vibe. We shot this again with Mat Dunlap who added some groovy lyrical elements too, so all the kids at home can sing along”.

The duo of Toronto-based Brent Randall and Los Angeles-dwelling Johnny Toomey are known for their previous achievements with Los Angeles based, baroque-pop group, The Electric Looking Glass. Both musicians compliment each other stylistically and add sparks to their newest project, Vanity Mirror. Their debut LP,

PUFF

was written, recorded, performed, produced and even mixed by Brent Randall. The resulting album starts where their other project Electric Looking Glass leaves off, with hummable, dreamy pop that branches out into more intimate, less genre specific freeform songcraft. It is a nostalgic collection of songs pieced together in makeshift spaces while traveling between LA, Montreal, Detroit and Toronto. Taping old pianos in public libraries and abandoned houses and tracking vocals in vintage shop basements, Randall sent the tracks to Toomey who recorded drums and percussion in his Los Angeles basement using a handheld field recorder.Listeners will call to mind artists like Emitt Rhodes, Olivia Tremor Control, and Belle and Sebastian. Vanity Mirror’s

PUFF

will see a digital/vinyl release on May 12th, 2023 via We Are Busy Bodies.

KIANA shares her new single “split decisions”

KIANA

New single “split decisions”

Spotify

KIANA is a Toronto-based R&B artist, known for her moody, soulful and hypnotic soundscapes. Reflecting feelings of heartbreak and melancholy, the songwriter touches on how growth is often painful but beautiful. With a unique Persian and Dutch upbringing, the artist finds inspiration in the cultures that have raised her.

Her latest single “split decisions” is about making the uncomfortable decision to let go of someone who you know is better off without you. The decision comes from an act of selflessness and a desire to put the other person first so that they can find someone who is genuinely capable of loving them. KIANA shares, “The verses are almost like flashbacks that reminisce over memories and who that person was, and is vulnerable in the reality that when you let go of someone – you do continue to think about everything that you had, what could’ve been, and you learn to understand yourself and the other person more when the situation is done with.”

The song title “split decisions” nods to the term used in sports, where a split decision is a decision made based on a majority verdict. KIANA explains, ”In this record, the decision to let go was made while compromising with their different sides. While some parts of you want to hold on and stay, your subconscious and conscious self is driving the decision to let go because you know this connection just isn’t meant to be. When you have a gut feeling and a voice taking over in your head, nothing speaks louder than that. »

With her music always radiating raw emotion and vulnerability, “split decisions” follows suit. The mysterious track is soft yet sexy, feminine yet dominant and most prominently, painfully personal. Listening to KIANA’s music is like reading her journal entries, as she completely lays her emotions on the table for everyone to see.

Her music has gained recognition from multiple radio stations including Toronto’s Flow 93.5 FM and Vibe 105.5 FM and received immense positive reception from her hometown. Today, KIANA has earned over half a million plays globally and has been featured in publications such as

Teen Vogue, Rolling Stone, Lyrical Lemonade, Ones to Watch

and

Red Bull Music

, to name a few. She has touched major stages like The Mod Club Theatre and performed at significant Canadian festivals including NXNE and Canadian Music Week. 2023 is set to be a thrilling year for this artist on the rise.

Parmi les solistes figurent Shabaka Hutchings (Sons of Kemet, The Comet is Coming), Evan Parker, Danilo Perez (Dizzy Gillespie, Wayne Shorter), Seb Rochford (Polar Bear, Pulled By Magnets) et Edward Waki Edward Wakili-Hick (Steam Down, Kokoroko), Theon Cross (Sons of Kemet) et d’autres.
