Spotify

Xades (pronounced shades) is the newest creation of the DJ and curator known mostly under MSJY. Whilst MSJY’s DJ sets are known for their heavy bass drip and bouncy rhythmic darkness, Xades is an ode to the sweet latina soul hidden underneath the tiny powerhouse bouncing behind the booth. Whilst it is certainly new to hear the voice behind the sound, MSJY has been spreading her music all over the world for more than 8 years.

By using it as a portal to connect to people and interact with her surroundings, she enjoys exploring its various soundscapes with a sharp mind, sensitive ear and dedicated heart. The Dekmantel affiliated selector as well as a former resident at Amsterdam‘s De School, Groningen’s OOST and Berlin‘s Griessmuehle is known for thought- and playful sets that dig into bass and breaks adding dashes of her passed influences of trip-hop and IDM. As Xades, Jenny explores her voice and songwriting, extending her tentacles into different genres, serving a vulnerable exploration that transitions smoothly from dub, downtempo electronica and contemporary R&B. Her multiplicitous musical and cultural roots (Brazilian mother, Argentinian father, Swiss passport) seep through all the versatile layers of her sound.

A garage groove with both organic instrumentation and spaced out synths meets post-pandemic lockdown poetry by Berlin-based singer-songwriter Xades. The playful energy of the track pays homage to her multi-genre background.

Thanks to Swiss techno and bass trio Atrice the Caribbean vibe of Xades’ “Locked In” is taken underwater. This deconstructed club remix hits heavy. Glitchy but crystal clear sound design plays with the claustrophobic theme of the original tune. Atrice are Lino Schilling and Pablo Chacon-Pino, two composers, sound designers and artists from Zurich. The pairing creates a truly sonic sensation, one that is set to soar in coming months!

The 1975

Nouveau single « Happiness »

Notes on a Condition Form,

The 1975 sort

Happiness

Being Funny In A Foreign Language

sur Dirty Hit

,

à paraître le 14 octobre.

Happiness

fait suite au remarquable single de retour

Part Of The Band

,

Part Of The Band

,

Rancid Eddie

New single « Tiger Love »

The story of Rancid Eddie’s formation is as gritty as it is pure – amidst a pile of crushed up beer cans and cigarette ashes, a band of five friends from Melbourne, Australia was born. Composed of

Jessy Kelly

and

Matt Sturrock

on lead vocals/guitar,

Ash Ravlic

on bass,

Andy Sturrock

on drums, and namesake

Eddie O’Brien

on keys, the group started as their high school lives ended, feeling that music was “the only thing” that’d keep them together.

Once Covid hit and playing live shows was no longer a possibility, like countless others, the band decided to get on

TikTok

. There’s something inherently incongruent about supposedly contrarian rock ‘n’ roll bands playing in the influencer’s sandbox, but somehow Rancid Eddie figured it out and developed a rabid following. They showed themselves in their natural habitat – on a couch on the lawn of their shared home, drinking beers at 10am and doing singalongs. Their videos started to amass millions of views – with people taking the live audio and creating tens of thousands of

user generated content

.

Most notably was their track « Dry » which when released, rocketed over 16 million streams across DSPs in the first six months. Finding themselves on 27 different countries’ top 100 charts globally, three being top 10 positions (New Zealand Alternative Apple Music, Australia Alternative Apple Music, Australia Daily Spotify), the band became the

#1 Fastest building artist in the world last October

.

Their latest single “Tiger Love” takes a slight departure from the band’s signature sound, showcasing a stripped down, laid-back ballad. Sturrock shares, « Ed and I wrote this during the first covid lockdown as a laid back acoustic ballad that came out of a bathroom sesh. Usually turning the acoustics into full band songs is a pain in the ass but once we all got around to the song at band prac I knew this had the potential to be mixed with the rancid herbs and spices. It didn’t take us long to pull together the perfect blend that gives this tune the kick in the guts you need for what the song is all about. I didn’t have any idea of what the song was about when I wrote it but now I look back at the lyrics and I guess you could say its about sex, drugs and being with someone whilst being in love with someone else. Kinda like a rebound situation just a tad more toxic. It’s a special song and we’re stoked that the studio version is coming out. »

Demonstrating their versatility, Rancid Eddie continue to deliver their unfiltered sound. With streaming numbers in the millions and sold-out shows across Australia, the band are proving to be an invincible force.

Take a look at their upcoming tour dates!

Entitled « Cynthia », the fun dance-infused indie pop single « isinfluenced by the 80’s », proclaims POESY. She further confides, « I love that it’s not taking itself too seriously. And as a big classic horror fan, I’m so happy with the video and how it really has that old school cheesy haunted prom atmosphere. I hope it’s a tune everyone puts on and dances to with their friends while they fantasize about their crush. Cynthia very much shows my scorpio moon — if I’m into you, I’m

really

into you. Obsession can be intoxicating. » Featuring funk-fueled bass lines, colorful beats and disco inspired strings, POESY’s signature vocals are irresistibly warm and seductive.

POESY is the solo project of classically trained singer, songwriter and pianist, Sarah Botelho. She was discovered after she appeared on the first season of hit Canadian music competition show, THE LAUNCH. Her incredible breakout performance propelled POESY to new heights yet unseen, landing her a major label deal with Big Machine Records and an opportunity to collaborate with esteemed composer and producer Stephan Moccio (Celine Dione, Avril Lavigne) on her debut single ‘Soldier of Love’ . This release charted in the Billboard Top 40 and was followed by a four-track long EP entitled Glass Box Confessional. Her singles “Body Language” and “Strange Little Girl” debuted in the Top 20 at Rock Radio. Classically trained in both singing and piano from the tender age of 4, the musical world has become POESY’s playground, having had vast experience in musical theatre, numerous rock bands and even operatic singing. By pairing inspiration from her favourite novels with an air of vulnerability from her own experiences, POESY unleashes her signature siren sound, filled with big drums & bittersweet melodies. POESY has had the recent honour to write and record an original anthem for Canada Games 2022, which she will perform at the opening and closing ceremonies this summer. Her most recent project – her debut LP I Exist – was made in collaboration with UK producer Stephen Lipson (Annie Lennox, Billie Eilish) and explores themes of betrayal and the journey back to one’s truest self. Alice Pisano

New single « Boys Like You »

Introducing Italian-born, London-based, Alice Pisano, a contemporary pop artist who made a bright entrance to the scene back in 2018. Since then, she has garnered a fantastic name for herself, offering listeners an ecstatic realm of lyrical bliss and contagious musicality.

Now, Alice Pisano is back with a new single “Boys Like You”, the first single from her upcoming EP

Shattered But Still Cool.

Written and produced alongside Jez Ashurst (Little Mix, Maisie Peters, Tom Grennan), Pisano has released a single that truly encapsulates her burning desire for true pop-perfection. Complimentary themes of infatuated heartbreak and dating duels pair effortlessly with symbolic synths, dreamy pop beats and rebellious rhythms to create an extraordinary track.

In Pisano’s words, “Boys Like You is about my experience with dating apps. I finally got around to joining one and decided to put myself out there. Online dating can definitely be fun but also frustrating, and can really shake your self-confidence. The day we wrote the song, I remember feeling pretty disheartened about it. It can be tough to deal with failed dates and behaviours like ghosting, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you’re not good enough, or pretty or fun enough… talking to my friends though, it became pretty clear they were having the same experience.”

With shining global success, her debut single “Celebrated Life” garnered over four million Spotify streams alone. Following her successful debut, Pisano also had four singles enter the iTunes Pop charts, numerous radio plays on stations including the BBC and over three million views on Tiktok with her single “September”. Her single “Open Up” was even featured as the soundtrack to the summer trailer of the British hit TV series Hollyoaks. This year, Pisano played two shows at The Great Escape Festival and was one of the first 50 artists to be announced. Accumulating numerous Spotify editorial support, including 14 New Music Fridays, as well as critical acclaim from online tastemakers including

Clash, Earmilk, Wonderland

and

Atwood Magazine

, AlicePisano is proving to be a rising star in the contemporary pop scene.

LABEL: CNFLNC

London-based progressive house producer CONFLUENCE has released his latest single,

‘My Everything’

on the 11th of July via CNFLNC. With a BA in music production and DJ skills from the Point Blank Music School in London, the producer has accumulated one hundred and twenty thousand streams across platforms and been featured on the noteworthy Youtube channels Wanderlust (350k subscribers – featuring artists such as Flume, The Chainsmokers, Two Feet, ODESZA and more) as well as LYCKA. Notably, CONFLUENCE performed alongside Alice et Moi at the launch of a collaboration between the french sports shoe brand Le Coq Sportif and the french fragrance house Guerlain. Growing comfortable in the fashion world, he performed a 3 hour set at the popular Cyberdog store in Camden Town, London.

A singular unforgettable moment sparked the French-born producer’s desire to pursue music: In 2012 he watched David Guetta and Nicky Romero perform what would become his all-time favourite song, ‘Metropolis’, live in Montpellier, France. He was certain he had glimpsed his future and, after receiving his first DJ controller for Christmas that same year, began exploring the realms of electronic music, where, ultimately, he found expression in House music. Expanding his abilities as an artist, he learned to produce the genre, taking inspiration from the likes of Jon Hopkins, WhoMadeWho, Moderat, M83, Adriatique, Max Cooper, and Lane 8. His own sound offers elements of Tinlicker, RÜFÜS DU SOL, CamelPhat, and Ben Böhmer.

Like a moth from a chrysalis,

‘My Everything’

is an ever-changing audio experience that twists and flutters, transforming effortlessly from one moment to the next. Distorted bass tones rise before settling into a soothing calm of emotively bowed strings. In perfect unison, each note plays its part, creating a symphony of synths, a clear exhibition of CONFLUENCE’s dynamic style.

CONFLUENCE tells us about the single:

“My Everything is a Progressive House and Melodic Techno track and a vibrant, positive and energetic track and I would describe it as my Summer Hit. I remember opening a random project that I started 2 years ago and decided to develop the idea and one week later, the track was completed. What inspired me when making My Everything is the vocal. At the beginning I wanted to use a vocal sample just to hear how it would sound if I was to work with a singer/songwriter and after finding the vocal line, I thought that this was actually perfect and from there I kept it and it became the official vocal of the track.”

Jason Maxwell shares his new single « For Now »

Jason Maxwell

New single « For Now »

Stream – Download

The song was inspired by a past relationship that ultimately failed – very much a case of ‘right girl, wrong time’. A year or so after our relationship ended, I noticed she had moved on to someone new and my initial reaction was to immediately question whether her new relationship was as serious or meaningful as her previous relationship with myself.

It was a challenging process writing “For Now” however the words did really flow with ease. The challenging aspect was the unnerving awkwardness of opening up to my co-writers (Elias Edlund and Shawn Moore) on a subject that still stings and to communicate the story in such a manner that’s more negative/ toxic than it is positive/happy with respect to emotional health. Most writers/ artists want to write/record songs that will perform well commercially and there’s an industry-wide unspoken assumption that negative/toxic songs are less likely to succeed in the commercial space. I want to write and record the best songs I can create and I’m less concerned with which boxes the songs will fit into – I want to create timeless music so in the long run I feel like it’s better to create something genuine and relatable opposed to creating something that merely ticks the boxes of today’s criteria checklist. Once Eli, Shawn and I were in agreement on the song’s concept and writer/listener perspective, we were able to write the lyrics with relative ease.

The song is lyrically-unique in the sense that it’s my only song that has a significantly modified final chorus. In this case, the modified lyrics alter the entire direction and meaning behind the lyrics’ message and in turn changes the perspective of the listener. Sonically-speaking, this song is quite a departure from my usual bright and happy sound but I think it’s necessary to explore all areas of the spectrum in order to fully develop my artistry. From a conceptual standpoint, this is the first time I’ve told a story that shines a negative light to some degree and done so in a somewhat emotionally-unhealthy manner. I understand from a commercial perspective why most songs portray everything in a positive light but I also know that I can’t be the only one who’s ever felt this type of way over a failed relationship. I know I’m not perfect but for better or worse I’m going to tell real and authentic stories from experience and I hope there are people that can relate.

“For Now” is a bittersweet song I wrote as a message to my ex-girlfriend. In a way it’s the first vulnerable self-depiction of how I truly felt about us drifting apart and her finding someone to replace me with. “For Now” is my honest attempt at expressing my innermost thoughts, feelings and emotions straight from the heart to pen to page to studio recording. I feel like everyone at some point in their life goes through a rough breakup but most people are too embarrassed or afraid to ever admit that deep down they want another chance – feelings we all think we shouldn’t say out loud and feelings that exist internally regardless of intention. Essentially the song revolves around telling my ex-girlfriend that she can do far better than her new partner that she replaced me with and the song concludes with me revealing that I feel like I’m a better match for her.

It’s a genuinely loving, somewhat bittersweet/toxic but straight from the heart message to my ex-girlfriend telling her that she can do better than who she replaced me with. It’s genuinely loving in the sense that I truly want what’s best for her – it’s somewhat bittersweet/toxic in the sense that I’m suggesting we should rekindle our relationship because I feel that what we shared in the past is greater than the love she now shares with her new partner.

Lyrically-speaking the song is unapologetically honest and the emotionally-charged auditory atmosphere is vividly conveyed through Jason’s passionate and heartfelt vocals. From start to finish “For Now” builds dynamically throughout, featuring a tasteful blend of traditional country instrumentation combined with contemporary pop production elements.

Jason Maxwell is a singer-songwriter & recording artist known for his high-energy performances & approachable personality. Jason’s unique approach to posting creative content online coupled with his genuine eagerness to engage & interact with his listeners has helped him garner global viewership with +70 million views across social media platforms.

MONTE

New single “T.D.T.T.M”

NYC based Punk Rock Band MONTE’s latest single “T.D.T.T.M” or “Too Depressed to Touch Myself” is a rampant, raw, and volcanic take on the sexual side effects that come with a breakup. The music video takes place in the MONTE Labs Operating Room as the opening shot closes in on singer and lead guitarist Caitlin Montclare strapped in on the operating table. She’s dressed in heart boxers with bones painted on her body and a big red nose that screams Operation. A nurse reading Playboy and a surgeon with kitchen tongs try to solve Montclare’s dilemma, but they just can’t seem to do it.

MONTE was formed by singer and lead guitarist, Caitlin Montclare in 2017, later adding drummer and audio engineer, Ismael Baiz, and bassist Meghan Rose to the official line- up. Since becoming MONTE, the band has released several singles, two EPs and performed more than 50 shows throughout the United States, including renowned New York venues such as “The Knitting Factory” and “The Bowery Electric”.

MONTE is influenced by a lot of bands from the late 80’s and early 90’s such as punk bands The Lunachicks, NOFX, Bad Religion, The Offspring and metal bands like Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Plasmatics. Montclare takes an old school sound and puts her own spin on it with the band adding interesting chord changes, riffs, and song structure. Drummer, Ismael Baiz likes to call this “The MONTE pocket”

Nouveau clip « Le Tweet »
