Lunar June shares her new single « holding onto u »

Lunar June

New single « holding onto u »

Already championed by BBC Radio 1 and with an All Points East 2022 festival performance under her belt, Lunar June aka Olivia Judd is in fact the writer, arranger, producer, and artist behind everything she’s touched to date. “

Authenticity is a huge thing for me, I wouldn’t want to release something that I didn’t feel in my bones. »

Olivia thrives off the ability to experiment with her music and the concepts and emotions she’s able to portray through her songwriting. The Brighton-based artist draws in her listener by telling stories with expressionism and relatability but with an angstful honesty at its core.

A quintessential anthem of early 20’s extensionalism, ‘

holding onto u’

effortlessly combines elements of pop and electro, all wrapped up in Olivia’s captivating vocals. “

I wrote the song in 2019 after I’d just finished my degree. I felt really lost and existential, and the uncertainty of being thrust into the big wide world was paralysing. holding onto u is about that struggle, but the chorus lyrics are a celebration of having good people in your life that are there for you and ground you through hard times, and about keeping them close, rather than pushing them away.

I was in the shower, humming away as per, and the chorus melody rolled off my tongue. I was immediately excited about it and hopped out and ran to my keyboard, still in my towel. The chorus and verses flowed and it was such a seamless process, and holding onto u was born. That doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, it feels almost spiritual and otherworldly. Like receiving a message from something intangible.”

Born and raised in West London, Olivia grew up performing in orchestras and jazz bands, which she describes to be a pivotal lesson in understanding the importance of working and performing with other people;

“It really made me appreciate the dynamic of playing with different people, and also to understand how the pieces fit together, and knowing when to play and when not to play.”

It was later in her teenage years that she began to uncover the exciting soundscapes of electronic music, and she set aside her acoustic guitar for synths and sample packs.

Taking great influence from artists such as Lorde, The Japanese House, London Grammar and Låpsley, Olivia began to mould and craft the sound of Lunar June:

“Now more than ever there is movement and theatrics – I want people to feel it. I like to make people dance, and move, and connect. But I only ever want to write something that’s meaningful, rather than just singing empty words. I want the emotion and richness that comes with the folk music I grew up on, meshed with the movement, hooks, and infectious beats of the pop music that I adore today.”

skofee shares her new ep joyland

Skofee shares her new EP « Joyland »

Skofee

New EP « Joyland »

Stream / Download

Named after an amusement park Skofee used to visit in Kansas, the six-track EP chronicles finding joy in various ways after falling out of touch with it. Skofee confides,  »

Joyland

represents a euphoric state of mind, and one that isn’t necessarily accessible in the way it used to be. The pursuit of joy, self discovery, absence of comfort and the destruction of familiarity are all themes. »

Musically,

Joyland

thrills with multidimensional sonics including sugary electro, moody indie pop, and introspective folk that take the listener on an enthralling and relatable journey of finding delight in everyday life.

Skofee is a rising pop artist based in Los Angeles. Her music is left-of-center while maintaining melodies that satisfy the inner earworm, featuring candid yet affecting lyrics and lush harmonies over decadent tracks.

Born and raised in Wichita Kansas, Skofee’s house was filled with bluegrass and folk music. After attending high school in Boulder, CO and college at the University of Southern California, Skofee took her love for the music she grew up with and translated it into a more pop-based sound. Her 2020 debut Polished EP received incredible reviews from the likes of tastemaker press outlets including Ones To Watch, EARMILK, and even the LA Weekly, who said, “Skofee’s sound is super-contemporary, combining indie and pop to create a gorgeous, lush and emotional alt-pop vibe that certainly recalls Alison Krauss as well as the likes of Lorde.”

2021 saw the release of the Post Pop Remix of her single “Spiderman” (Post Pop being the moniker of producer Stefan Skarbek, who has worked with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Jamiroquai among others). This uptempo reworking saw several months of airplay on local KROQ-FM, arguably the most influential Alternative radio station in the country. In July 2022, Skofee released an incredible duet with famed Dutch singer/songwriter/producer and Grammy nominee Cimo Fränkel – a remake of Fränkel’s hit single “Where Do You Hide Your Love” which saw support from tastemaker radio outlet KCRW and was placed in A-list rotation on Amazing Radio USA.

Skofee’s sophomore EP,

Joyland

, touches on love, loss and the search for happiness in familiar places. Now released, the EP has several singles from the collection including her recent tropical house-tinged end-of-summer banger “Wind Up Hero”, « Quicksand », a relatable 90’s pop fused anthem about letting go, and the lofi pop ballad « I’m Sorry I Killed Your Plant ».

New York-based songwriter Lyric Christian wants to bridge the gap between black female songwriters and the pop charts. Raised in Atlanta as Lyric Christian, Lyric writes songs inspired by her personal experiences and emotions- specifically, reckless love and heartbreak, about badass women who never hesitate to throw a little shade. Lyric moved to New York to attend the prestigious New York University Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. LeoDec presenta il suo nuovo singolo « Gangsta’s Paradise »

LeoDec

Nuovo singolo « Gangsta’s Paradise »

Ascoltare – scaricare

azilda shares her new single till u hurt me love this city

Azilda shares her new single ’till u hurt me (love this city)’

Azilda

New single ’till u hurt me (love this city)’

Spotify

Since winning the Danish X-Factor in 2016, Azilda’s solo career has included a great placement on Denmark’s biggest radio channel P3’s Upcoming List with the debut single ‘Come Over’. Both that and the follow-up-single ‘Green Light’ emanate from Azilda’s unique way of mixing life-affirming afrobeat with catchy pop. But on the upcoming single she shows a new and more profound side of her huge musical capabilities.

The song also marks the start of a new collaboration with producer Malthe Seierup, who has enjoyed wide acclaim for his work with artists such as Svea S, SOÉL and Jonahh.

« We’ve found inspiration in artists like NAO and Thirdstory, and I’m really excited for people to hear this side of me as an artist, »

Azilda explains as a big smile spreads across her lips.

« My previous songs have been very upbeat party music, but on this upcoming song I’m inviting people into my deepest self »,

she elaborates.

At first glance, the song sounds like a declaration of love for the Danish capital, which Azilda moved to in 2021 after spending most of her youth in Holstebro and Aarhus. But beneath the surface is a more dispirited – and sadly zeitgeisty – narrative.

« ’till u hurt me (love this city)’ is about having experienced so many defeats that you finally don’t dare to give yourself 100% to love anymore. What if the next one hurts me too? It’s about getting to the point where you always hold back a little from telling the person how you feel. Eventually you lose them because you never get to say it, »

Azilda says of the background to the song.

At the age of 4, Azilda Kaputu fled to Denmark with her family. Growing up in Holstebro, she and her family looked different from most others in the area. Azilda herself says that as a child she dreamed of a career in music, but she didn’t think there was room for a girl like her in the media.

However, the rebellious spirit of her parents, who ended up forcing them to flee to Denmark because of their active opposition to the Angolan regime, has clearly been passed on to Azilda. For she is the type to take up the fight. If there wasn’t room for a couple of African girls in the media spotlight, the space had to be made, and you have to say she got it done in tandem with her sister when they won the X Factor in 2016. Here they secured victory by, among other things, singing « Frit Land” (Free Land), which contains a thinly veiled comment on the Danes’ self-aggrandising view of their own openness to cultural diversity.

In 2021 Azilda went solo, and since then she has released the singles ‘Come Over’ and ‘Green Light’, which have attracted attention on various Danish radio stations and media in Denmark and abroad.

Alongside her solo career, Azilda is also a backing singer for rapper Icekiid, when she’s not voicing various characters in Danish renditions of Pixar films.

Noga

Nouvel album LEV

‘Equalista’

ALBUM RELEASE DATE: 23 February 2023

LABEL: REDUCED TO THE ROOT RECORDS

Defiant songwriter and producer MARIA Die RUHE released her debut album

ENARCHY

on the 23rd of February via Reduced To The Root Records. On the album, listeners will find the lively track

‘Equalista’.

With over 10 million streams on Spotify alone, the free-spirited producer has seen support from tastemaker digital magazines CLASH Magazine, Tonspion, Metal Magazine, Notion Magazine, Glamglare, and trndmsk among others. The LP is reminiscent of Röyksopp, Lykke Li, MØ, Robyn, and Tove Lo.

On the concept of the LP, MARIA Die RUHE tells listeners:

“ENARCHY is the result of a deep and thorough look I took into the world around me and my own inner workings. The title is a combination of Energy and Anarchy. I explore different types of energy, oscillating between head and heart. Referring to Anarchy is the way I produce what I reflect, with no calculation for what could be functional. I became bolder, more explorative, and dissolved genre boundaries.”

MARIA Die RUHE’s debut album

ENARCHY

is a journey of self-exploration distilled in a danceable medium. Cello and piano unite playfully with electronic beats to form a 15-track project that captures the soul of her creative methodology: through free expression, she riots, using music and enthusiasm to fight for a better future and find deeper connections with herself and her environment.

Born and raised in Thuringia, Germany MARIA Die RUHE has journeyed to Berlin, San Francisco, and finally the city where she feels she best expresses herself nowadays: Leipzig. With a strong musical repertoire, versatile voice, and the power to translate the full spectrum of emotions through music, live act and DJ MARIA Die RUHE embodies all of it. Unapologetic, honest, and thoughtful, she converts these qualities into performances that cannot be associated with a single genre, spanning House, Pop over Melodic Techno, and Classic Techno to form an intimate and direct interplay with the audience. She has toured a host of countries with her compelling live set and played at festivals and clubs across the globe, including the free-spirited and life-affirming Kater Blau in Berlin. She finds inspiration in Frank Wiedemann, Stimming, Dominik Eulberg, Elder Island, Sylvan Esso, James Blake, SOHN, and The Knife.

alexis de la rocha shares her new single haze

Alexis de la Rocha shares her new single « Haze »

Alexis de la Rocha

New single « Haze »

Spotify

Entitled « Haze », the single speaks to the cloudiness of the mind when mired in a spell of depression. “It’s about making your way through the fog during those moments when you are not yourself or able to be the version of yourself that you imagined,” she says. Influenced by the likes of David Lynch’s

Twin Peaks

theme and David Bowie’s instrumentation in

Laybyrinth

, « Haze » is a seductitve sonic offering.

Alexis de la Rocha is a first-generation Latine artist, singer, songwriter, producer, and synth goddess born and based in Los Angeles. She has performed and creating music her whole life, from her early beginnings as a dancer at age three and first piano lessons at age seven, to performing in recitals, talent shows, and theatrical productions throughout high school and college. As a film school student at UCLA, de la Rocha honed her artistic skills in production, directing, and acting–skills that would lead her to high-profile gigs as music festival director for LALIFF, Amazon, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Clippers, and many more. But it was after college, while holding a job at the now-defunct Los Angeles radio station Indie 103.1, when she realized she wanted to pursue music.

De la Rocha is perhaps best known as the electrifying front woman of the Los Angeles experimental band, BEATMO, which she co-founded in 2006. Beatmo’s hits, including “Unheard March,” “From the Water,” and “Orale” showcase de la Rocha’s powerful performance persona and eclectic musical influences, from her early childhood influences of Madonna, the 1984 film

The Neverending Story

, and David Bowie’s stylized synth soundtrack to 1986 film

Labyrinth

to the dance, alternative, and R&B music of her teen and college years. “I grew up in the eighties and nineties, and those delicious sounds of freestyle, house, trip-hop, electronic, grunge, hip-hop, R&B, and so much more live in my mind,” she elaborates. “I remember reenacting Dave Gahan in “Enjoy the Silence” and wanting so badly to be Björk.”

A few years into her involvement with Beatmo, de la Rocha began writing solo music in GarageBand with her Roland Juno-6. She eventually taught herself Ableton. This writing helped her hone in her synth dream pop style, pulling inspiration from Bowie and the soundtrack to the classic 1982 dystopian film about Los Angeles,

Blade Runner.

De la Rocha formed her second band, LJ Laboratory (formerly LEX), which featured collaborations with Daft Punk’s team for shows at SXSW, W Hotels, and a sold-out event at the Los Angeles Theater Company.

As a vocalist, musician, and artist, de la Rocha’s transformative onstage presence leaves fans yearning for more, and her dynamic musical displays at Snow Globe Music Festival, Pride (Los Angeles, San Diego), KABOO, Treefort, and other festivals have endeared her to new audiences. Her commanding performances and musical artistry have earned acclaim from the

Los Angeles TIMES

,

LA Weekly

,

Buzz Bands LA, Rolling Stone, The Bay Bridged, Consequence

, and other publications.

With their disbandment, de la Rocha heard the calling of motherhood and had her baby girl. She admits the transition to full-time motherhood was not easy, and she had a tough time adjusting to her new life. “I was missing my music life,” said de la Rocha. So she wrote, and wrote, and ventured on her musical journey to find herself in this new life chapter. One result was her 2021 single, “Chill,” written with longtime collaborator and homie VFRESH. De la Rocha is revving up to release even more music this year and perform once again. Her latest song, “Haze,” holds her inner reflections, visions, and intimate thoughts.

“My music is my soundtrack and interwebbings of my influences of 1980s synthesizers, fantasy, fashion, goth, and dream pop. ‘Haze’ is where I let my childhood play with sounds inspired by David Lynch’s

Twin Peaks

theme by Angelo Daniel Badalamenti and where synths pay tribute to David Bowie’s instrumentation in the

Labyrinth

.”

For de la Rocha, the title “Haze” speaks to the cloudiness of the mind when it’s caught in a spell of depression. “It’s about making your way through the fog during those moments when you are not yourself or able to be the version of yourself that you imagined,” she says. “My vocals are haunting, echoing the internal voices that repeat in the mind. Haze is about looking back at those tough moments and finding the beauty in them, learning the lesson, the takeaway, so you can continue forward stronger. Grief and heartache are okay, because you are overcoming the pain. Art and music are spiritual for me and in those moments when I feel overwhelmed, I’m able to find understanding through my creation process and self expression. I’m hoping people are able to connect and find comfort in the sounds.”

Regarding her creative process, de la Rocha explains, “I meditate and say a prayer, give thanks to my ancestors, set my intentions, light a candle under my huge evil eye/mal de ojo which watches over me at the top of my studio, and let all art pour from me. I’ve worked on letting go of my paralyzing unreality based limit of perfection and am diving fully into the sounds and art that fill my heart. I am a vessel and the art is a release.”

“I feel alive on stage, like I am finally myself, in my fantasy dream world. I give 150% to my performance and my audience. They can be anywhere else in the world, yet they chose to be here, with me, and I am ever so grateful. Their love gives me the confidence to keep going.”
