Kwoon est de retour avec son nouveau single Blackstar, à découvrir avec un clip en animation réalisé par le dessinateur anglais Patrick Atkins.

Mené par le guitariste post-rock Sandy Lavallart, le groupe culte Kwoon redécolle vers les étoiles avec ce titre en apesanteur. Blackstar débute avec une introduction spatiale, puis entrent en scène les cordes et le piano, qui font monter en puissance ce titre élégiaque.

Après avoir propulsé sa guitare dans l’espace, joué sur les volcans de Lanzarote, au Phare de Tévennec en Bretagne, ou à l’Aiguille du Triolet dans le massif du Mont-Blanc, Kwoon est de retour pour une expérience inédite avec Blackstar et sa mélancolie extraterrestre qui devrait séduire les amateurs de films dans l’espace comme Interstellar ou Solaris.

Blackstar annonce la sortie du nouvel album de Kwoon, programmé pour après l’été, après plus de dix ans d’attente, suivi même d’une tournée prévue dans la foulée.

Kwoon est le projet du guitariste Sandy Lavallart au jeu variant entre le post-rock, l’ambient et les sons de guitare atmosphériques.

Célébré pour ses albums qui ont marqué le paysage rock français, dans la lignée des meilleurs groupes de post-rock comme Mogwai ou Explosions in The Sky, Kwoon est revenu ces dernières années avec des singles au jeu lyrique et inspiré, sortis par surprise au fil des mois, comme Life, Last Paradise, Siren’s Call. Le dernier en date s’intitule King Of Sea et on y retrouve en invitée Babet du groupe Dionysos. Ce titre évoque l’histoire des marins bretons et les légendes circulant autour de Tévennec et son phare maudit. Navigant entre la magie de l’animation, King of Sea nous emporte au milieu des vagues musicales puissantes et des chants envoûtants, illustrant un thème qui tient particulièrement à coeur à Sandy Lavallart qui a d’ailleurs joué au Phare de Tévénnec au milieu des flots.

Musicien et compositeur, Kwoon (Sandy Lavallart pour l’état civil) est un grand amateur de sons atmosphériques et planants aux contours post-rock. Avec Kwoon, Sandy Lavallart démontre qu’il est autant un musicien et compositeur passionné qu’un globe-trotter averti. Depuis quelques années, il choisit de jouer dans des endroits insolites où il emmène ses guitare, ampli et pédales, en s’inspirant du lieu et en s’enregistrant en direct. On a pu le voir ainsi composer sur l’aiguille du Triolet, face au Mont-Blanc (3 900 mètres), au pied du phare de Tévennec (au large de la pointe du Raz) ou encore du côté de plusieurs volcans des Canaries. Le voici prêt à décoller dans l’espace avec son nouveau clip Blackstar qui annonce le nouvel album de Kwoon après l’été.

Inmena est le 1er extrait de son EP à venir.

Pourquoi Bleu Satellite ? Parce que c’est mon prénom, tout simplement.Alors, on m’appelle Sohée en général – c’est tout de même plus pratique – « Sohée » dont la traduction littérale en japonais est « petit satellite bleu ». Je n’ai donc pas eu à chercher bien loin.

De plus, rares sont les prénoms qui correspondent aussi bien à leurs propriétaires. Je me suis toujours considérée comme venue d’ailleurs, un objet qui gravite autour de la terre, qui l’observe et la décortique sans jamais vraiment y prendre part. La musique me raccroche au monde, elle fait vibrer mon humanité et me connaît mieux que quiconque. Je l’aime simple, sans ornements ; je l’aime avant tout acoustique mais aussi moderne, avec des sons nouveaux, étranges, organiques ; je l’aime en français, en anglais, en créole, tous ces endroits qui sont ma maison. Je me sens libre en elle et privilégiée de pouvoir la vivre tous les jours.

Stéphanie Acquette nous dévoile son nouveau clip Chacun pour soi, qu’elle a réalisé elle-même avec Paul Chauvin.

Dans une esthétique de film de science-fiction des années 60 (

Barbarella, Planète interdite…

), la vidéo de Chacun pour soi nous raconte l’histoire d’une extraterrestre qui débarque sur Terre dans un univers de béton, au Havre.

Ce nouveau titre de Stéphanie Acquette parle du fait de modifier sa perception, de trouver l’élément qui va nous permettre de changer notre rapport au monde afin de pouvoir mieux interagir avec les autres. Son titre ambigu enjoint à cultiver son jardin, à ne pas chercher à l’extérieur ce qui doit être trouvé à l’intérieur.

Ce titre est extrait de l’album Chacun pour soi, réédition chez Frémeaux & Associés du premier album de Stéphanie Acquette, accompagné de bonus, qui sort le 24 février 2023.

L’album Chacun pour soi est une invitation à découvrir l’univers ouaté et sensible de Stéphanie Acquette. La chanteuse, multi-instrumentiste, déploie un imaginaire cinématographique chamarré et vintage aux influences pop, parfois jazz et latines, où chaque titre est proposé comme un instantané.

Humour, gravité, sentiments amoureux, nostalgie, elle décline une palette riche d’émotions, avec une justesse rare. La finesse de l’écriture, les arrangements feutrés et la délicatesse de la voix font de cet album un écrin où l’artiste révèle la pleine mesure de ses talents.

Multi-instrumentiste originaire d’un petit village du Nord de la France, Stéphanie Acquette s’est initiée à la musique à l’âge de 8 ans par la pratique de la cornemuse et des flûtes irlandaises. Autodidacte, elle a perfectionné à Paris son apprentissage de la guitare et de la basse, au contact de musiciens russes et tziganes.

Fervente spectatrice de la cinémathèque et des cinémas du quartier latin, elle nourrit et affine son sens de l’image par des études cinématographiques à l’université Paris 7. Elle se produit régulièrement en tant que musicienne sur les scènes françaises (Les 3 Baudets, le Pop In, le Supersonic, Les Etoiles, le Volcan, le Train-Théâtre, l’Adagio, l’Eden…).

Après D’un Rien et Je M’en Vais, son troisième clip Chacun pour soi nous entraîne dans l’univers de béton de la ville du Havre, une course-poursuite effrénée s’engage entre deux héroïnes venues de l’espace. Leur mission : trouver en premier un mystérieux objet qui permet de modifier sa perception, afin de pouvoir regagner leur galaxie.

The six track lustrous indie pop EP explores themes such as anxiety, camaraderie, and the aspirations of the young band as they sonically open the door a bit wider. The duo is also sharing a music video for the single « Corvette” which explores healthy aspiration, obsession, and seeks to find where the line often blurs. It also tests the quicksand of traditional masculinity. The title is a nod to their grandfather’s cherished 1975 Stingray Corvette, which is featured in the music video (as is he).

Cal in Red’s Sophomore EP:

On The Dance Floor

is the culmination of 2022 efforts from brothers Connor and Kendall Wright. It explores anxiety, camaraderie, and the aspirations of the young band as they sonically open the door a bit wider. One of the key tracks, “Replay (Lounge),” has an anchor-like presence with its atmospheric chorus, blazing horns, and road trip charm. A TR909 drum machine and marimba make for a playful outing on the track “Chalk.” The springtime pop of “With Your Hands” gives way to the EP’s sunny closer; an amalgamation of “Can I Call You Tonight” by Dayglow and “Quarterback” by Wallows.

In August of 2022 Connor and Kendall moved into the same house. This was a big change as most of the recording for their debut EP involved hour long treks to record together. “It’s allowed us to really put our collective foot on the gas. It feels like there’s a newfound sense of security and longevity to the project. Feels good,” says Kendall Wright.

The title “On The Dance Floor” is a friendly hoodwink. “We aren’t really dancers,” Connor Wright quipped, “I think we both have exactly one move.” It’s an acknowledgment of both pressure and excitement hitched to the duo’s upsurging. It’s about lacing up for the growing pains which become more exhilarating by the day. Cal in Red are in stride and headed to center stage.
