Alors qu’ils n’ont que 11 ans, AK 47 et Dr. Boog se rencontrent pour la première fois en studio dans la cité du bois l’abbé à Champigny-Sur-Marne.

Malheureusement, bien qu’ils soient encadrés par un grand du quartier, les aléas de la vie de rue prennent rapidement le pas sur leur passion, et les deux compères s’éloignent des micros…

Après une première incarcération, AK 47 est de nouveau arrêté en 2018 pour possession d’héroïne (saisie record qui fait la une des journaux).

. Commence ainsi un projet aussi fou qu’inédit : réaliser un album à distance avec l’un des deux artistes en prison.

Des coupures de courant à la gamelle, AK 47 y raconte le quotidien d’un taulard loin de toute forme de romance, tandis que Dr. Boog, lui, donne sa vision de l’extérieur, désabusé mais toujours mélodieux.

Entitled “Have You Ever?” the track features a duet with Los Angeles based synth/alt pop producer/songwriter Party Nails who adds a new dimension to the original viral single. “Have You Ever? » is an existential narrative « about questioning everything you’ve been taught, » proclaims vocalist Jonathan Horstmann. Featuring penetrating basslines, striking synths and attention grabbing melodies, “Have You Ever?” is a relatable anthem about living in the questions of life.

Austin, TX-based Urban Heat is a three-piece post-punk band known for their magnetic blend of immersive new wave sounds and dark pop hooks woven with lyrics of timely socially conscious messages. The result is a cathartic and nostalgic listening experience, delivering musings on existence and romanticism against a penetrating industrial gothic pulse.

Heavily influenced by 80s post-punk and dark wave, Urban Heat combines striking synths, Hortsmann’s

throaty baritone, and unexpected melodies

with hints of melancholy fused together for a signature spellbinding journey. The band formed in 2019 when multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Jonathan Horstmann enlisted Kevin Naquin and Paxel Foley to form a live show based on his analog sound design. After running in the same musical circles for years, the three members decided to form a supergroup of diverse rock artists in the Austin music scene.“There’s not a ton of other Black musicians in Austin who play rock, and having that representation was important to me.” confides Horstmann.

Finding inspiration in processing life-changing current events, navigating mental health crises as well as “exploring the different ways our minds cope with a slow-moving apocalypse,” Urban Heat began releasing music in 2019 and have since shared a series of thought-provoking singles as well as an EP.

The collection of introspective songs also provides a level of comfort, reminding listeners that they are not alone and we’re all going to get through this together. Leading single “City Lights” details the small moments in time that make life memorable and special. From sharing stories until late in the evening to bonding with the ones you love, the track discusses the passage of time and how getting older becomes easier when you have healthy ways to cope. Emanating with soaring synths, warm basslines, and echoing post-punk inspired vocals, “City Lights” is a euphoric and introspective listen. “Have You Ever?” “is about questioning everything you’ve been taught and those times that truth seems more like a thick fog than a stone tablet,” foretells Horstmann. The existential single lives in the questions, bringing listeners a relatable anthem. With a total running-time of just 10 minutes, Giift says more than what most artists are capable of during a full-length album. Her debut-EP, ‘Archives’, was both an impressive and inspiring release by an 18-year old young girl whose modest and almost shy appearance would go and shine a light on the international neo-soul and R’n’B-scene of 2022.

Giift interprets the youth in her lyrics and sing them out in her own way with a remarkably pure voice. She has a self-taught, boundless way of producing harmonies and musical layers making her minimalistic yet complex and grandiose sound stand out and portray a young girl whose mind, body and soul becomes her music.

Her final release of the year, ‘If You Leave’, represents the state of Giift…

“2022 has been very overwhelming to me. Letting go of ’Archives’ was also about letting go of an emotionally chaotic period in my life and at the same time it became the ultimate high that collided with new love. ‘If You Leave’ is written right at that time – as a declaration of unlimited love and as the definite ending of a chapter one and the beginning of a new,”

Giift tells.

She was born in Pretoria, South Africa, on February 18th 2004, was adopted and grew up as a small-town kid of Havnsø, Denmark. In her childhood home, there were no limits to creativity and Giift wrote her own songs at a very young age – a mental process that progressed naturally with her passion for art and music production.

Her debut-single, ’Fed Up’, premiered on PAPER Magazine and since then, Giift has been praised by leading international media like Ones To Watch, Flaunt Magazine, COLORS and Metal Magazine.

est le titre du nouveau single/vidéo de LEDA. Le titre est extrait de l’album « Marocco Speed », sorti en avril dernier par Il Piccio Records, et distribué par Artist First.

Une chambre, un lit, une maison. Les paroles de « Tu mi bruci » font référence à une relation qui n’est plus forte, avec le choix d’un langage plus poétique que descriptif. Musicalement, la chanson joue avec des vides et des pleins rythmiques, des riffs de guitare électrique entrelacés avec des parties de synthé. Le nouveau single du groupe italien fait également appel à la voix et aux guitares slide de Paolo Benvegnù.

Dans le clip vidéo – tourné par le réalisateur Andrea Giancarli et photographié par Daniele Castelli – la pierre poreuse, fendue et taillée, est vivante et, baignée par la lumière de la flamme vacillante, elle met en scène un conflit comme il y en a beaucoup. Les puissants murs en travertin de la « Cave Cavam » de Rosara (Italie) semblent contextualiser les deux protagonistes dans un environnement familier, une énorme maison qui les avale dans une danse qui devient dangereuse. Les masques de Giulia et Giacomo de la Compagnia dei Folli cachent deux visages de chair muets et cachés, mais qui doivent être révélés. La vidéo devient l’expression visuelle d’un projet qui étudie les éléments matériels et symboliques du territoire : le travertin, qui ne se dresse que dans des zones géologiques particulières riches en cours d’eau et le feu, encore au centre d’importantes célébrations et de rites de passage dans le monde rural. Le projet a été réalisé grâce à la Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ascoli Piceno.

London’s prized Experimental Electronic duo Plaid has created a remix of Vincenzo Ramaglia’s single ‘La parole 3’, which was released on the 14th of October via PEM Records and premiered on Soundwall. A household name to fans of IDM, the duo has previously collaborated with the industry legend Björk and created official remixes for Goldfrapp and The Irresistible Force, leading to a significant play count approaching 20 million streams on Spotify alone. Recently, the duo performed with the BBC Concert Orchestra and has gained extensive support from tastemaker publications Pitchfork, Red Bull, Resident Advisor, Exclaim!, PopMatters, Mixmag, Fact Magazine, CLASH Magazine, Attack Magazine, and Louder Than War, to name a few. Their music has been aired by NPR’s KCRW as well as BBC Radio 6’s Mary Anne Hobbs.

The original track appears on Vincenzo Ramaglia’s album La parole, which features vocals sung by the French songstress Laure Le Prunenec (who has been the lead singer of worldwide-acclaimed French band Igorrr). The reimagined single follows well-known producer Alvo Noto’s recently released remix of Vincenzo’s ‘La parole 1’, adding to the growing list of remixes created by prominent artists such as μ-Ziq, Shigeto, Emika, and Venetian Snares. At this rate, it seems a remix album, comprised of a collection of major international electronic music acts, is in the air.

With an academic, orchestral, and humanistic background, Roman composer and electronic musician Vincenzo Ramaglia is a teacher of audiovisual language, the director of a film academy, and a writer (his first crime/thriller novel is coming soon). Ramaglia is currently active in what he calls PEM (Popular Experimental Music), often in collaboration with exponents of avant-garde music. In Ramaglia’s music the most restless and elusive rhythms of IDM can be traced, analog sequences composed on the machines all manipulated in real-time, handling the setup as a musical instrument, with echoes of Autechre, Arvo Pärt, Radiohead, and Sigur Rós. Ramaglia’s work has received support from PopMatters, CLASH Magazine, Son Of Marketing, Self-titled Magazine, Magnetic Magazine, Bandcamp Daily, Ondarock, Sentireascoltare, Rumore, and BBC Radio amongst others.

Since the late ‘80s, UK duo Plaid, comprised of Ed Handley and Andy Turner, established a presence as a monumental cornerstone for electronic music aficionados around the globe. They have worked under a number of aliases, including The Black Dog and Balil, composing music for video games and scoring several feature films, most notably Tekkonkinkreet, which was awarded the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year. Their sound can be likened to Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Lapalux.

A collection of organic and synthetic tones, ‘La parole 3 (Plaid Remix)’ is a polyrhythmic remix of Vincenzo Ramaglia’s already glitch-riddled single. Metallic notes reverberate at the edges, glimmering like gold. Laure Le Prunenec’s stuttering vocal dances to tribal shakers, crying out while hollow drums lull listeners into a spellbound trance.

Plaid tells us about their remix: “We found a connection with Vincenzo’s music, Laure’s vocal, and ideas of words and language, which pulled us towards the sound and momentum of the remix. »

“Sad Ghost” is a stunning slow burn alt pop single chronicling the feelings of being stuck in life. “Sovaz” évoque le côté brut, non policé d’une attitude qui emprunte les codes des bandes de rues, des mauvais garçons et filles qui se rebellent. Sovaz est l’expression d’une femme qui s’assume en tant que telle.

Comme elle l’avait déjà dit en quittant le santié Papang pour aller se Pandiyé à d’autres branches … l’artiste Maya Kamaty aime se mettre en danger et explorer plusieurs pistes.

Sovaz est l’expression d’une femme qui s’assume en tant que telle, se laisse porter par ses pensées, questionne ses doutes, envoie balader les étiquettes qu’on tente de lui coller, se débarrasse de ses démons, clame son identité, son authenticité, sans ratures ni fioritures, sans posture autre que celle d’une femme de son temps, bien dans ses baskets, sa salopette et sa verte casquette. Jouer, jouir, aimer, rêver, VIVRE dans et avec son temps, sans illusions mais aussi sans concession.

Et le plaisir ne dessert pas l’engagement, il l’ancre dans un ici et maintenant, balayant la pensée formatée, refusant la perversité de la langue de bois et les détournements de propos, fustigeant la condescendance politicienne ; le tout avec force poésie.

Tant et si bien que, si on n’y prête pas plus attention, on peut se laisser juste porter par le son et la voix toujours aussi puissante de Maya Kamaty, au timbre changeant comme les formes des nuages.

It is unsurprising that noteworthy tastemaker publications have praised the band, namely The Spill Magazine, Variance Magazine, RTÉ XM, CLASH Magazine, Rolling Stone India, Hot Press and Medium.com/ Pop Off, to mention a few, and received extensive national airplay, most recently from Louder Than War, collecting over 140k streams across platforms.

Sucker For Stars is a rocker’s fantasy. Like a new band poster, the album offers fans a vivid image of what The Burma stands for as a band, printed in high gloss. A few of the featured tracks thrash lawlessly, inciting miniature musical riots while other ballad-type records live together in gently strummed harmony. With only guitars, drums, and vocals, The Burma has written an album that is rich and dynamic.

Proudly local, the band takes its name from The Burma Steps in Cobh, Co. Cork, Ireland. Its members are Tony O’Donovan (on vocals) and Peter Piggott (on guitar) who are both from Cobh as well as Cian Doherty (on drums) who is from Doolin Co. Clare. Drawing inspiration from The Strokes, Tame Impala and Daft Punk, the band has created a signature sound comparable to Glass Animals, MGMT and Foster the People.

“Sucker For Stars is a body of work which we officially started two and a half years ago – although it‘s been much longer in the making. The album represents two different sounds for us – the first, made up of 6 older songs which we’ve held onto over the years- and then 5 brand new songs showing where our writing style is at in its current form. It’s a milestone moment for us to have our debut album out in the world, it’s been a long time coming.”

François Staal donne rendez-vous le 16 novembre prochain au Café de la Danse, avec Emma Sand et Vincent Bricks pour nous faire découvrir son dernier album L’humaine Beauté.

A cette occasion, il nous offre le clip vidéo de Bréhat (Enez Vriad), un nouvel extrait du disque L’humaine Beauté, qui fait suite à sa reprise d’Avec le Temps de Léo Ferré.

Pour François Staal, Bréhat est l’Île de la beauté, l’île où l’esprit s’éveille aux pensées essentielles, à la hauteur de vue, à la question existentialiste, aux aspirations au sublime, où s’associent les embruns, les tempêtes, la mer, le soleil, les étoiles, les fleurs, les chemins perdus et perdants les voyageurs, l’insularité, les parfums merveilleux des fleurs et des arbres, eucalyptus et pins, l’odeur de la mer.

Les vagues de Bréhat, les marées et le silence, les vents puissants ou doux ont inspiré à François Staal ce morceau sublime à découvrir enfin en vidéo.

L’humaine beauté, le septième album de François Staal, est sorti en décembre dernier avec une dizaine de textes inédits, la reprise de deux monuments de la chanson La nuit je mens (Bashung) et Avec le temps (Ferré)… une chanson de Pierre-Yves Lebert et un poème de Baudelaire.

Point d’orgue d’une évolution débutée il y a dix ans, L’humaine beauté couronne une recherche sur les sons et le texte en français, mêlant guitares et batterie rock aux cordes symphoniques, dans une certaine filiation avec Nick Cave ou les Pink Floyd. Deux superbes duos rythment cet album, l’un avec CharlElie Couture, et l’autre avec Nina Morato.

L’humaine beauté est un aboutissement, au sens littéral comme au sens musical… ou faudrait-il dire au sens propre comme au sens figuré ? Au fil de textes poétiques traversés par tous les élans de l’existence, de la révolte légitime du militant (Ready) aux réminiscences grandioses de l’enfance (Bréhat), de la solitude de l’artiste abîmé dans ses tourments (Minuit) à l’élégance des images suspendues comme des étoiles (Ce qu’il y a de beau), cet album de chanson rock explore la beauté dans ce qu’elle a d’éphémère (c’est maintenant), de contradictoire (Ne pas t’attendre), de fraternel (Tous frères) et d’exaltant (Céline). Jusqu’à la reprise de ces deux chefs d’œuvre profondément humains que sont Avec le temps de Léo Ferré, et La nuit je mens, d’Alain Bashung.

Pour François Staal, la quête du beau, c’est écrire des textes, où la vérité, la réalité, sont observées, reconstruites, déformées, transposées pour échanger, partager, toucher l’âme et l’esprit.
