For the past couple of years, Mattis has been going through a personal transformation. And now the songwriter, who is known for an electronic soulful sound, is ready to live out his true self through his lyrics and a new organic sound that he introduces on the single, ‘You Can Never Go Back’.
”I became a dad for the first time, earlier this year – and what my daughter has taught me so far, is to live in the now. These days, she’s crawling around on the floor but before I know, she’s off to college. Having her right here has changed my focus in life upside down and I don’t wanna miss any second together with her,”
Mattis says.
Mattis is a former punk rocker well known on the Copenhagen underground art scene and quite impossible to miss with his staggering 6 feet 8 inches in height. He eventually hung up his studded leather jacket and adopted a more vulnerable and soulful sound fronted by his characteristic deep vibrato voice.
He debuted in 2017 with the critically acclaimed ‘Loverboy’ and soon Mattis was one of the most talked about new Danish artists hitting sites like Wonderland, DIY and The Huffington Post. His songs have also been featured in various movies and series like Shadowhunters (Netflix), Farang (SVT) and Greyzone (DR).

Le troisième album du one-woman-band présente une sonorité encore plus raffinée et polie – si c’est possible – que le précédent ”Silk around the Marrow” de 2016, toujours dans l’entrelacement de rythmes électroniques downtempo/trip-hop et une fascinante fluidité mélodique. Une ambiance plombée de guitare accompagne, plus que dans le passé, l’auditeur vers un égarement dans les ténèbres.
Dagger Moth déclare : « Les graines de ce disque ont pris racine en 2020, pendant ce qui a été pour tout le monde un hiatus forcé et surréaliste. C’est précisément ce mélange d’humeurs, oscillant entre incrédulité, aliénation, angoisse rampante et suspension, qui a été fixé de manière indélébile dans les sons et les mots. Un chœur de sensations que je trouve encore tristement pertinent, étant donné la période historique absurde que nous vivons ».
Solitaire a été le chemin de création qui a accompagné Sara Ardizzoni pendant ces années de travail : il a commencé par l’enregistrement de tous les morceaux à la maison pendant les mois de confinement et s’est poursuivi par la mise en place de la pré production et du rough mix toujours entre les murs de sa maison. Par la suite, trois contributions précieuses ont rendu le processus de production moins anachorétique : Victor Van Vugt (ancien collaborateur de studio de Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Beth Orton et bien d’autres) avec qui l’artiste a finalisé le mixage à distance entre Ferrare et Berlin ; Fabrizio Baioni (batteur de Pierpaolo Capovilla et des Cattivi Maestri, Leda, Cirro, Circo El Grito) avec ses rythmes supplémentaires imprévisibles sur trois des huit titres de la tracklist du disque ; Alessandro Gengy di Guglielmo qui a réalisé le mastering à Milan.
Démarré en été 2012, Dagger Moth est le solo projet de Sara Ardizzoni, guitariste transversale (par choix) et chanteuse (par hasard). Une sorte de one-woman-band, avec guitare électrique, voix et électronique, mêlant loops, noise et mélodie entre le chaos et la structure. Le premier album éponyme est sorti en avril 2013 sur Psicolabel et comprend des collaborations avec Giorgio Canali, Joe Lally (Fugazi), Alfonso Santimone et Luca Bottigliero. Le deuxième album ”Silk around the marrow” (avril 2016) a été enregistré et mixé par Franco Naddei et comprend également des contributions de Marc Ribot et Antonio Gramentieri. En novembre 2017, il a été inclus dans la liste des meilleurs albums du magazine américain Guitar Player « 60 Noteworthy Guitar Albums of the past 50 years _history of noteworthy guitar albums, 1967-2017″. Le même magazine a également consacré un article/interview intitulé « Angel of Havoc » à Dagger Moth dans son numéro de mai 2018 (Pedalmania). Quelques collaborations récentes sont : depuis 2016 avec Cesare Basile & Caminanti, à la fois en studio et en live (comme au Primavera Sound Festival 2018 à Barcelone) ; avec les Californiens Double Naught Spy Car pour leur dernier travail en studio (qui comprend des invités Mike Watt et Nels Cline entre autres) ; avec le français Philippe Petit pour un double remix ; avec Deb Googe de My Bloody Valentine pour une reprise de « The Sound of Silence ». Depuis 2018 Sara Ardizzoni est également guitariste au sein du groupe italien emblématique Massimo Volume.

Tommy Newport is known for his irresistible falsetto-steeped indie anthems, garnering a substantial buzz with his 2018 debut, Just To Be Ironic, while he was still a teenager. Following the paramount success of 2019’s Tommy Gun EP and 2021’s Ultra Mango EP and Liquid EP, Newport continues to develop his euphonious sound.
Born Oliver Milmine in Manchester, England, Newport moved to the United States at a young age, eventually settling in Kansas. There, he picked up the guitar and taught himself how to produce music on his computer. Consolidating his style and sound into something rather extraordinary, Newport has created his own funky, psychedelic style of pop with his falsetto vocals riding atop bulging basslines, grooving guitar, melodious keyboards and electronic grooves. Marie Di La est une chanteuse, musicienne, auteure et compositrice franco-italienne qui se démarque par un parcours atypique. Cette artiste complète née en France, a quitté son pays d’origine pour finir ses études en Italie, à Naples puis à Gênes où elle a participé à de nombreux concours, avant de rejoindre le Canada pour y poursuivre ses études d’auteur compositeur.
De retour en Europe, elle a participé deux années consécutives aux Voix du Sud de Francis Cabrel à Astaffort.

Be a Bear is a new, original and experimental project, whose aim is to show that we can do much with little, by taking inspiration from everyday life.
Be a Bear’s music is called « electro-bear-pop », characterized by synthesizers and sounds of the 80s, tribal rhythms and straight case. The songs are very vibrant, have fantastic arrangements, and an incredible rhythm.
“Push-e-Bah” (2016 – La Fame Dischi), “Time“ EP (2017 – La Fame Dischi), “Climb Your Time” (2018 – La Fame Dischi), “Martin Doesn’t Agree” EP (2019 – Il Piccio Records), “My Lullaby (Waxlife Rave Mix)” single (2021 – Il Piccio Records) and “Mr. Dust (Badlands Remix)” single (2021 – Il Piccio Records), are the key to get into the den of Be a Bear, aka Filippo Zironi, an Italian bear musically born and raised in the ska-punk band Le Braghe Corte. Today his music features electronic bases mixed with old-school rock and sounds from the nature; voice is not melody but an image, a video, an emotional editing with a clear and positive message.
The idea of the bear and the name « Be a Bear » is inspired by a trip to Canada, north-west of Toronto, where Philip was lucky enough to get to know Native American culture up close, was a guest of a lady who belonged to the Mohawk tribe. « Be a Bear » is therefore also an exhortation, a way forward, which wants to show that with little you can do a lot (for example the use of the iPhone, but exclusively out of necessity), inspired by everyday life:

Curiosity – Be a Bear is the first in Italy to use (100%) an iPhone to compose, play, record, and mix his production, practically the mobile is his recording studio, as well as one of his musical instruments, in some songs he also used toy instruments stolen from his daughter 🙂 He uses the iPhone for everything: to make music, to edit videos, to create graphics and to post on social channels. He practically never turns on the computer. He may well be considered the pioneer of a new way of conceiving music, called « smartphone music » or « phone music ».

Avec son approche mélodieuse rap et des punchlines bien placées sur des sonorités de guitares rythmées mélancoliquement, DracoBoy souhaite rappeler qu’il y a toujours une part de lumière, même dans l’obscurité.
DracoBoy est un auteur-compositeur-interprète belge d’origine camerounaise né le 26 juillet 1997 à Bruxelles. Il est actif dans la scène musicale depuis 2019 avec la sortie de son premier morceau «Flemme» le 26 juillet, puis le deuxième «Alzheimer» le 26 septembre de la même année qui terminent en rotation radio et sont très appréciés du public. Influencé par des artistes comme Stromae, Kanye West ou encore Pink Floyd, il a pour objectif de vivre de sa musique tout en préservant son indépendance car conscient de la face cachée de l’industrie musicale. DracoBoy produit et mixe ses morceaux en plus d’être diplômé d’une école d’audiovisuel et co-fondateur du label Detroit 7 Music géré avec ses amis d’enfance Kole.B et Dydyf.
Il gagne de la notoriété en 2018 avec quelques vidéos drôles publiés sur Instagram et YouTube, d’où sa grande communauté sur les réseaux sociaux. En 2019, il décide d’arrêter puis supprime tout en annonçant qu’il n’était pas heureux, que ces vidéos lui servaient de masque et faire de la musique l’aidait à surmonter ses problèmes. Cela crée déception et incompréhension chez plusieurs milliers de ses supporters, qui au fil du temps se désabonnent et/ou deviennent inactifs car n’étant pas d’accord avec la transition du contenu joyeux vers de la musique mélancolique. Il affirma que si des artistes comme Joji, Scarlxrd ou Laylow ont musicalement réussi en partant de l’humour vers de la musique morose, il le peut également.
DracoBoy décide donc de continuer son périple artistique sans se focaliser sur les personnes qu’il perd car la sérénité et les auditeurs qu’il gagne en composant, produisant et partageant sa musique est la meilleure des récompenses.
Il exprime sa versatilité à travers des sonorités mixant Hip-Hop, Rock (etc…) et prévoit sortir son premier ep intitulé «C.A.S.H» le 7 octobre 2022.

EUT continue to transcend sonic depths. The Dutch five-piece create blissful, eternally youthful music that champions acceptance, authenticity and – most of all – buckets of fun. The band is the brainchild of Megan de Klerk, a captivating vocalist whose lyrics dance around 90s influenced guitar pop. Flowing between traditional genre boundaries with no fear, their unparalleled creativity saw the band thrive in their early days, using opposite takes as a driving force into a new era for alternative pop.
Now, the quintet are releasing the next single
“Step By Step”,
one of the first songs to be written for their upcoming album Be My Reactor, EUT’s first self-produced record. Liberated of deadlines and the whole touring lifestyle due to the Covid pandemic, the band could dig their heels deeper into their experimentalism. Sound-wise, the album has more in common with twilight than the bright, sun-kissed sceneries they courted before. With their new album, EUT soars with catharsis. They explain, “On previous records, we might have wanted to dance our problems away lyrically and musically. But during the writing process of Be My Reactor, there were a lot of emotionally heavy moments that had to be placed in a song and didn’t deserve to be pushed into the background.”
Within the album’s darker themes, the innate joy of reinventing the band’s sound and lyrical confrontation shines through. In an endless process of discovery, Guitarist/producer Emiel de Nennie explains, “We bought all kinds of synthesizers and I tried to teach myself how to write songs another way. That’s why this record sounds different, because we were caught up in all these new instruments.” As a result of handling the recordings themselves, EUT assigned Adam ‘Atom’ Greenspan
(Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party)
for additional mixing to create the unique sound for their next release.
EUT have always had a knack for summoning that elusive spark of alt pop energy, and “Step By Step” is no exception. Blasting with euphoric synthesisers and sweeping melodies, their idisocranic soundscape can be attributed to the band’s kaleidoscope of musical influences. Beck, Gorillaz and St. Vincent inspire the continuous reinvention that makes EUT so enthralling. Combined with compelling discourses surrounding depression, breakups, and closer friends with suicidal thoughts, they confide, “On this record, we faced these subjects without fear and confronted them, and in doing so we have tried to break taboos for ourselves.” Hoping to inspire their listeners to leave an old situation with confidence and trust in the “Step by Step” process, their latest endeavour is nothing short of extraordinary.
