New Zealand based dark pop artist Michèle Ducray creates spellbinding songs about fantasy intertwined with the mystical. Inspired by mysterious and sinister themes such as horror and the colorful characteristics of circus life, Ducray’s songs are laced with vivid imagery and suspenseful storylines.

Ducray’s musical influences include Pavarotti and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, reminiscent of her early childhood. Her sound is “haunted pop,” characterized by a mix of intoxicating vocals, deep drum & bass, and lucid pop melodies for a melancholic yet energetically upbeat immersion of seductive tones. When she creates music, Ducray visualizes fantastical scenarios, utilising metaphorical subconscious imagery. A self-confessed « fan of the peculiar », this, perhaps, is best demonstrated through her enigmatic « Peter Pan » style on stage.

Raised in both South Africa and China, Michèle Ducray emerged from a culturally diverse childhood and discovered her immense affinity for music at the very young age of eleven. By the time she was just fifteen years old, the artist realized her raw talent for songwriting while in a recording studio in ChristChurch New Zealand and decided to further her studies at a local jazz institution for formal training. From there, her music career took off, and she began writing, recording and playing shows in both New Zealand and Australia.

Michèle Ducray’s single “Midnight,” released in 2021, is an enthralling slow-burned existential dark pop debut. Written during the COVID-19 lockdown period, this hauntingly, majestic piece tells a tale of tragedy and the awareness of how isolated one can feel in times of uncertainty. “Where Did the Love Go” features sultry-hued vocals, a funk-driven bassline, twinkling keys and groove-laden percussion, resulting in this vibrant, yet sonically textured track.

Fusing pop-perfect hooks with a laid back indie style, SYTË (meaning « eyes » in Albanian) are making their mark in the alt-pop scene. Based in New York, the group has an abundant blend of musical backgrounds, with elements of R&B, pop, indie, metal and Jazz, creating a sound and vibe that transcends genre, geography, age and gender.

The group initially formed when vocalist Nita Kaja was visiting her family’s hometown of Prishtina, Kosovo and met future partner and band mate Drin Tashi. Falling deeply in love with the free-spirited and alternative lifestyle of the city, and being surrounded by a thriving and youthful music scene, Kaja felt inspired to create her own music, forming a duo with Tashi in 2018, before teaming up with drummer Granit Havolli and bassist Fatlind Ferati; evolving into the four-piece band we know today.

The new single “Where Did the Love Go” was written after three long months of isolation. Feeling disconnected from the world and missing out on a European tour due to the pandemic, Kaja penned the lyrics after finally reuniting with a friend, causing a burst of inspiration and the creation of this soulful tune. The sultry-hued vocals are a perfect complement to the funk-driven bassline, twinkling keys and groove-laden percussion, resulting in this vibrant, yet sonically textured track.

Hoping to encourage people to express their seemingly-niche emotions, the band write music about acknowledging and navigating through destructive thoughts and patterns. Wanting to see popular music shift to a more introspective and intentional place, the band expressed, “Documenting these overlooked emotions can help bring humanity together and highlight how much more similar we are to one another than we think”.

Known for their electrifying performances, SYTË have already played a number of well-known festivals including Pop Kultur Festival, Localize Festival and Sunny Hill Festival, where they opened for powerhouses like Dua Lipa, Action Bronson and Martin Garrix. Blue Mar is a Brazilian born, Los Angeles based artist whose music dances between gritty guitar and nostalgic/vintage sounds. Wading through modern-day life hurdles, Blue Mar’s music is a reflection of how quickly we lose track of what is real and what isn’t. To bring light to these issues, he uses a lot of tongue-in-cheek phrasing and elements of dark humor.

is as distinguished in sound, as it is in sentiment. Written and recorded between London and São Paulo and produced alongside Fabio Pinczowski and Mauro Motoki, the 14-track album is packed with gritty guitar and nostalgic, vintage sounds. Exploring global matters and humanities response to them and one another, the album questions the world we live in from all angles, though has a twinkling of hope and optimism throughout, with the artist revealing, “I wanted to make an album that addressed topics like human connections, being in perpetual upheaval and feeling unable to unwind but in a whimsical, tongue-in-cheek manner!”

The first release of the album was “Eulogy For Rohith Vemula”, paying tribute to Rohith Vemula’s life and activism in India. With the fallout of the pandemic having a profound impact on his life, Blue Mar found himself searching for inspiration in new places, when he stumbled across a selection of 26 essays in a book called “The Good Immigrant”. Despite being named a “Eulogy” the track is a wash of thoughtful soundscapes, uplifted by a calming trill of ukulele, and a hum of soft yet husky vocals. Written in his Sao Paulo apartment in just two days, the track is one of the quickest songs the artist has ever written, however it radiates the compassion and admiration you’d show a close friend.

As the album was written over the course of the pandemic, it’s unsurprising that the songs have such prevalent themes throughout. A track that’s theme has been evident in the last couple of years is “ONE” where the artist sings about putting aside our differences and uniting together as one. Sang partly in Portuguese, the track reverberates with electrifying guitar riffs and buoyant percussion as he sings, “We are one and this is paradise”. Continuing on his exploration of life and evolution, the album delves into the power of technology, particularly in the song “Solo Valley” about singularity and the ever changing growth, and “Hibernating (CEDO-OU-TARDE)”, a song purely about social media.

Spending time in both London and Sao Paulo, the musician is able to explore new sounds as well as new topics. Through the rawness of his music and the sheer gravity of his lyrics, the Brazilian artist is creating music surrounding human connection, hoping to stimulate emotions.

Fruit d’une collaboration avec la chanteuse Bergmann et le rappeur Days, Ulrich nous propose une ballade sensuelle sur l’amour qui s’en va.

A l’image du piano désaccordé et entêtant qui sert de fondation au morceau, les protagonistes se rendent compte de la distance qu’ils éprouvent l’un envers l’autre, en prenant bien garde de ne rien dire à l’autre pour ne pas le blesser mais aussi pour ne pas s’avouer qu’on est dans l’impasse.

Aujourd’hui, DIDEN revient avec un nouveau projet, des idées neuves et l’envie de marquer la scène française de son talent : la rage au ventre avec une touche d’espoir, voilà sa devise.

Alors qu’il a donc annoncé un nouvel album à venir prochainement, l’artiste a récemment présenté quelques extraits : « Sheïtana », « Rebelote », « Woman No Cry » et dernièrement « Mamacita ».

Désormais, il poursuit avec « Docteur », son nouveau single dans lequel il se livre sans filtre sur son mal-être, ses sentiments actuels et son envie d’évasion.

Un titre rempli d’émotion…

Découvert par le grand public il y a quelques années, DIDEN a depuis pris le temps. Le temps de réfléchir à la direction artistique de sa carrière, et de tester de nouvelles choses pour élargir son univers, et la couleur de ses futurs projets.

Retour sur le parcours riche de DIDEN…

C’est très jeune que l’artiste fait ses débuts avec la sortie de “Rêves de môme”, un 11 titres en autoproduction.

Ce premier projet étant bien accueilli par le public, une tournée d’une vingtaine de concerts s’en suit, où la plupart se dérouleront à guichets fermés.

Déterminé à percer dans le rap, DIDEN poursuit son travail acharné et ne cesse d’écrire et de perfectionner ses lyrics, tout en se créant un style très original : « Je veux montrer au public que je peux autant faire des morceaux à thèmes, que des morceaux égotrip ».

Ainsi, tandis qu’il engrange les souvenirs et les fragments de vie qui le rendent mature bien avant l’âge, DIDEN progresse à une vitesse infernale.

Alors qu’il enchaîne les allers/retours entre Marseille et Paris pour travailler sur de nouveaux titres, DIDEN est sollicité par le rappeur l’Algérino afin d’assurer les premières parties lors de sa tournée (il accompagnera d’ailleurs L’Algérino sur ses dates jusqu’en 2019).

Avant de proposer un nouvel album, DIDEN choisit de miser sur la sortie d’un EP qu’il nommera « Cataclysme ». Sur ce projet, l’artiste n’hésite pas à aborder des thèmes complexes, comme avec « Déter » où il exprime ses convictions avec franchise, ou encore avec « C’est La Hass » en feat avec REDA TALIANI, pur tube qui a marqué les esprits.

Déjà 26 ans, DIDEN passe à la vitesse supérieure et se lance à corps perdu dans son art.

Après 2 années de préparation, et alors qu’il est identifié comme l’une des valeurs montantes de la scène marseillaise, il dévoile « NO LIMIT », son premier album officiel qu’il veut complet et sincère.

Tilmann s’impose dans le monde de la musique folk comme voyageur, un passeur d’histoires universelles. Ce musicien s’est donné un objectif dans son nouveau projet en quartet : rassembler le public autour de sa musique ouverte sur le monde.

Après avoir repris les morceaux d’artistes aussi aventuriers et rêveurs que lui tels que Jackson C. Frank ou The Tallest Man On Earth, il s’est entouré de trois musiciens pour enregistrer un premier EP Chrysalis composé de six titres.

Avec cet EP de folk orchestrée, Tilmann met en valeur des chansons qui impressionnent par leur générosité et le talent de leur interprétation. Un voyage folk et poétique qui vous invite à entrer dans le cercle. A découvrir avec le premier extrait Fall.

Dans ce premier EP intitulé Chrysalis, Tilmann nous invite dans un univers folk généreux et touchant. Ses mélodies s’inspirent des grands espaces aquatiques et convoquent en même temps le souvenir des veillées autour du feu.

Avec les six titres du disque, Tilmann se fait passeur d’histoires, à l’instar des voix de la tradition populaire qui ont accompagné sa quête, tissant de sa voix et de sa guitare des chansons qu’il livre avec sincérité. Mais si la composition est intime, les orchestrations et arrangements sont audacieux, ouverts.

Tilmann honore son goût de la rencontre en partageant l’interprétation avec trois musiciens qui enrichissent les chansons de leurs couleurs singulières, à la croisée d’univers trad, jazz et musiques du monde : Pierre Lenormand (batterie), Rémi Allain (basse et contrebasse), Pierre Thary (violoncelle et trompette).
