Concorde

takes its name from the legendary Franco-British aeroplane from 1965, nicknamed the « beautiful white bird » for its sleek and modern design. This avant-garde project that ended in tragedy has always held a certain fascination for

Laurence Giroux-Do

; a deadly « crash » that inspired in her a sense of macabre sensuality.  In the album’s music, we find vintage influences, recalling the faded charm of 70s erotica, warm tones also rooted in psychedelia, disco, yéyé, and French chanson.

‘Excellence Europe – Express’

is similar to an old advertisement for the Concorde. In this new neat and daring song, the group proposes supersonic and air-like production.

The track is all about phobias, most specifically the fear of flying. The poignant song also discusses dealing with mental health issues including anxiety. Elliot confides, « A lot of things in life terrify me. If I had to make a list, flying would probably be number one, and right underneath it would be things like “disappointing people”, “taking up too much space”, and “societal pressure to conform to a gender binary”. Airplanes is a song about my relationship with anxiety and all of the ways that fear has shaped the course of my life. » « Airplanes » thrills with an infectious chorus, gritty electro pop soundscapes and an unpredictable mash up of explosive melodies.

Entitled « Ghost » the song « is about the duality of love and the mourning of never seeing someone again. The uptempo groove suggests the hasty and fiery romance that the song was based on. « Ghost » begs the question, « Is love even real? How does one go from being entwined with someone, then reduced to a fading memory? » The intensity of missing someone once close to you, the bitter taste of a past romance and utter loneliness of abandonment seep through the lyrics and melody. »

« Going back to our roots in Manila, where we were born, has been an exhilarating bridging of the east coast and the very east coast. Born in the Philippines, raised in New York and currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia, Raquel Lily is an independent singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist and online personality. She streams music performance and a variety of content, including live vlogging (IRL Streaming), Just Chatting, Social Eating, gaming and cooking on Twitch. Graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior, Raquel left the medical field and dove head first into her creative pursuit in music and began online streaming in 2017.

Her debut full-length album,

, features songs narrating a coming of age story about someone going through their 20’s. Raquel confides, “Everyone’s been broken from something. You smoke some weed, you fall in love, they turn out to be a fuckboy, you’re with someone shitty, you break up, you ghost them, you still love them, you resign, you meet someone new and there’s hope again.”

Raquel confesses how her songwriting is a cathartic, emotional purge. With the simple objective to guide listeners through an impassioned ride, her songs are driven by genuine experiences from an introspective and honest place. Inspired by the likes of Whitney Houston and old school R&B, Raquel wanted to capture a similar essence of synth-heavy, soul soaked music. Her love for old soul groups and classics, including Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, also shines brightly throughout her music.

“For Michael” is an emotive ode to the songwriter’s close family friend who tragically lost their life in 2019. Beautifully simplistic, the exposed guitar chords and heavenly vocals allow the vulnerability of the lyrics to take focus. Washed with dusky hues and comforting melodies, the song questions the reality and reasons for such a passing, and how close the state of being and of not being can really be.

Francesca Louise is an indie/folk singer-songwriter, who’s soulful, Carole King inspired vocals paired with songwriting influences from the likes of Joni Mitchell, Lucy Rose and The Staves, makes this artist one to watch.

Poignant and heart breaking, the new song “For Michael” is an emotive ode to a close family friend who tragically lost their life in 2019. Sat on her bedroom floor slumped against a futon, Louise tearfully penned this melancholic memoir as a way of expressing the thoughts and feelings she had shut away in her subconscious surrounding the loss. Dazed in shock and in a cloud of confusion, the track unfolded into a form of therapy and way of healing, with the songwriter admitting, “At times I surprise myself with what appears on paper. I answer questions that I didn’t even know needed to be answered. Writing is a part of my healing process when life is spinning and events are unfolding. It’s my therapy.”

Wanting to keep a raw and untouched approach to the production, Louise recorded the song at her home in Lancashire with no room treatment and just one microphone. Edgär présente son nouveau clip « Dictators »

Après avoir deux EP remarqués (Persona en 2107 et Walking into heaven en 2020) et plus de 150 concerts à travers la France, Edgär dévoile son 1er album Secret. Le disque sortira le 01 avril 2022 sur le label Grabuge Records.

Avec ce premier album qui navigue entre pop, folk et électro, le duo formé de Ronan et Antoine évoque des moments de vies, des émotions ou des ressentis. Des choses trop lourdes à garder pour soi et confiées à un ami. Des secrets. C’est le fil rouge de cet album.

Premier extrait, on décolle avec Dictators, un titre electro-pop ravageur. Edgär y oppose la douceur d’un monde intérieur à la violence du monde extérieur. Perdu mais protégé dans son introspection, le duo, révélation de la scène amiénoise, décide de détourner le regard du monde réel pour ne pas voir qu’il brûle. Un morceau aussi violent que dansant.

Dans le clip éponyme, le duo se change en peluche géante et danse sur les vestiges du passé pour illustrer cette dualité. Edgär n’a pas changé la face du monde, mais pendant 3 minutes et 40 secondes, il nous a permis de nous évader.

Edgär suggère le rêve comme dernier refuge aux agitations de la vie devenue trop étouffante. Une chanson comme pour extérioriser chaque raz-de-marée émotionnel. Voici Dictators, premier Secret d’Edgär.

Edgär, un nom unique pour un duo, composé de l’extraverti Antoine et du romantique Ronan. Tous deux font leurs armes sur la scène amiénoise. Inéluctablement, c’est lors d’un concert que ces deux univers entrent en collision. Ils découvrent avec enthousiasme que leurs échanges passionnés sur leurs influences les ramènent, inlassablement, sur les mêmes rivages brumeux de la pop britannique. C’est d’abord la guitare qui permet à ces deux voix de s’apprivoiser et de s’harmoniser sur des morceaux pop entêtants. Quand la voix du romantique s’allie à celle de l’extraverti et que seule reste la justesse d’interprétation et une sensibilité assumée.

Persuadés que la singularité de leur projet se trouve au-delà de leurs zones de confort respectives, la guitare se mélange alors, doucement, aux arrangements électro. Air, Alb, Alt-J, la liste des références musicales est longue.

Edgär c’est le songwriting de Simon, les harmonies de Garfunkel et la french touch de Phoenix le tout pour annoncer une electro/pop élégante.

C’est maintenant une certitude : leur différence fera leur force, leur complémentarité dans leur projet. Edgär dévoile son très attendu 1er album Secret le 01 avril 2022 chez Grabuge Records. Musicalement très riche, on retrouve sur cet album la pop solaire de The lights, la folk acoustique pur jus de Dead End ou encore le classicisme de la chanson française avec Réveille-moi.

Dans cet album, on danse sur de la mélancolie avec Nuit et on chante ses peines passées sur Sable Blanc. On se questionne beaucoup sur soi, sur son avenir. Puis on lâche prise.
