Emerging folk singer-songwriter Sean Healy shared his debut EP ‘North Wind’ on the 6th of April. The four tracks on the EP were written by Sean Healy himself and mixed and mastered by Chris Brown who has previously worked with industry greats such as Radiohead and Muse.

The singer returned to his hometown of Dublin last year, after spending several years in China. While there, Sean spent time working in the animation and film business in China and with New Zealand and Europe. His brimming creativity has been focused mostly on creating and performing music in Ireland and the UK for the last year.

”, l’artiste nous plonge dans un moment de vie où elle se sent tanguer, sans réelle idée de la marche à suivre, du cap qu’il faut viser. Son caractère toxique reprend le dessus ; elle ne parvient pas à se détacher de ce qui lui fait du mal.

L’artiste fait à nouveau le choix du format rhode voix, qui se mélangent, s’intensifient jusqu’à nous laisser en suspens à la fin du morceau, comme pour annoncer le changement à venir dans l’histoire qu’elle nous raconte.

La musique d’Illa est une affaire de métissage. Entre le noir et le blanc des touches du piano sur lequel elle compose tous ses morceaux, l’auteure-compositrice franco-ivoirienne de 25 ans laisse sa voix se promener entre les extrêmes et ne s’interdit rien. Illa grandit loin de sa mère. Pour se construire en tant que femme dans notre société, elle se réfère à celles qu’elle voit à la télévision, dans les publicités, dans les affiches de rue ou dans les films.

Très jeune, elle prête attention aux comportements humains et se pose des questions sur l’amour, la mort, la bonté et parfois la malhonnêteté qui semblent régir la grande majorité des comportements, réflexions qu’elle canalise grâce à sa musique. C’est son père qui lui transmet son amour pour la chanson. Dès son enfance, il lui joue de la guitare, et lui chante des chansons. Pendant 10 ans, elle suit des cours de piano avec un professeur particulier du conservatoire, et apprend en parallèle le chant et la guitare en autodidacte. Très vite, elle compose au piano et se met à faire de ses pensées les plus intimes des poèmes, puis des chansons.

« J’ai grandis en écoutant Bashung, Angus et Julia Stones, Bob Dylan et les autres artistes qu’écoutait ou nous chantait mon père. C’est dans les morceaux les plus bruts que je ressentais le plus d’émotions et proximité avec l’artiste, comme si les mots et les mélodies résonnaient directement dans mon corps. »

Inspired by the likes of Haim, Jade Bird and Maisie Peters, “Midnight Hour” showcases twinkling synths, euphoric harmonies and emotion-fuelled vocals, as the upbeat dance-worthy anthem shines bright with a new-found confidence and self-worth. The lyrics, “Been stuck in the midnight hour, now I’m dancing till the sun” highlights the feeling of being trapped but eventually being set free and finally being able to really express your true feelings.

The accompanying music video is filmed in a “typical” date setting and represents the different feelings and sides to people’s relationships and how they might try and cover things up. La musicienne nous dévoile aujourd’hui son nouveau clip Push Me, featuring Philippe Katerine. Dans le clip réalisé et conçu par ses propres soins, Laura Perrudin associée à Philippe Katerine nous entraîne dans un théâtre rouge et or, pour un sondage d’évaluation à la fois obsédant et obstiné, mené par quatre visages. Traitant de la notion de normes, confrontant les différents cadres qui nous régissent en mettant en scène quatre personnages entre dystopie absurde, graphisme chirurgical et légèreté pop et colorée, Push Me détourne la pièce de danse contemporaine The Siberian Trombinoscope créée en 2019 par les chorégraphes Léa Rault et Alina Bilokon. Le titre annonce également la sortie d’un live-album de Laura Perrudin « Live Featuring The Ghost Orchestra » en mai 2023.

Laura Perrudin se nourrit de jazz depuis l’enfance et étudie très tôt la musique classique tout en explorant de front les musiques électroniques et expérimentales, le hip-hop, la soul, la pop et à peu près tout ce qui fait du bruit. Formée auprès de nombreux musiciens de sa Bretagne natale, elle part ensuite à la recherche de nouvelles perspectives à New York et à Paris.

Elle cherche à ouvrir les possibilités de la harpe à un langage plus vaste. Elle joue sur instrument conçu sur-mesure : la harpe chromatique électrique. Elle lui permet aujourd’hui de s’aventurer dans des univers sonores électriques et électroniques aux spectres très larges, évoquant Amon Tobin, Björk ou encore Flying Lotus, tout en empruntant les chemins sinueux des harmonies impressionnistes d’un Debussy ou d’un Wayne Shorter.

Après A son âme de Pierre de Ronsard, puis La Ballade des Pendus de François Villon, Louis Arlette s’attaque à Tristesse d’Alfred de Musset. Dandy débauché dévoré par l’alcool et la dépression, Alfred de Musset a composé le poème Tristesse en 1840, à l’âge de 30 ans. Sa vie tumultueuse est marquée par son idylle orageuse avec George Sand. Il est le porte-parole du malaise de toute une génération. Repris par Louis Arlette, Tristesse révèle toute l’incroyable musicalité de ses vers.

Louis Arlette est de retour avec son EP Sacrilèges, qui adapte cinq des plus beaux poèmes de la langue française en ne s’interdisant aucune expérimentation. Sur ce disque, La Ballade des Pendus de François Villon, le spleen de Baudelaire, le romantisme de Gérard de Nerval, la mélancolie de Ronsard et la Tristesse de Musset se retrouvent transfigurés, rendus méconnaissables par le traitement musical que Louis Arlette leur a imaginé.

Sophia Habib is a singer, writer, performer and producer based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Delicately dancing between infectious pop, spellbinding R&B and silky neo-soul, Sophia’s music is a hypnotic blend of her love for the 00’s, along with smooth R&B vocals and a dark, melancholic tone taken from her classical piano background. Directed by Eloi Genrich and Rebecca Weltner and filmed by Maric Dam, the three videos are shot in a beautiful, minimalist location, allowing for the focus to be on Sophia and the music, with no distractions. Shimmering with a vulnerability, warm golden hues blend with dark shadowy elements, adding further depth to the sound and the song’s narratives.

Thematically, the song’s are based on true events from the artist’s life, as she gives listeners an honest glimpse into some of her most personal and raw moments. Sophia confides, “Thank You is very simply a love story! It’s thanking someone for showing you what true love is and that you are worthy of receiving that love.” « Lifeline » speaks of desperately wanting someone to love you, even though you know they’re no good for you, but ultimately realising that you don’t need the approval of anyone to be loved.

Gal confides, « Moment was a song I wrote one verse for 7 years ago, but at some point I lost the paper with lyrics on it and over time almost completely forgot the melody. Years later when I experienced a significant personal loss, I was struggling to express my grief and fell into a crippling season of writer’s block. By a stroke of serendipity, the lyric reappeared on a folded piece of paper in my glove compartment which triggered a memory of the melody, and led full circle to my finishing the song and beginning to let go. » Gal’s cinematic vocals sing bittersweet melodies over intoxicatedly esoteric chamber pop soundscapes.

Gal Musette is the artist name used by Grace Freeman, who began writing piano and guitar based lyrical compositions and performing at open mics in her home city of San Clemente, CA at the age of 10. Her graceful approach to melody-driven indie-folk has captured audiences all over Southern California.

At age 14, inspired by The Magnetic Fields’ triple album

The track features classical inspired piano, haunting theremin (performed once more by Via Mardot), and plenty of harmonies which masterfully intertwine with contrasting bass and drums, driving the song with a consistent groove while grounding the whimsical treble tones.

« Plateau » was written when in bumper to bumper Los Angeles traffic and details a season of numbness and monotony as well as the death of idealization of life and love, while her new single « Moment » channels experiences of grief and loss through cinematic vocals and bittersweet melodies over intoxicatedly esoteric chamber pop soundscapes.
