The infectious 90’s inspired indie rock tune is all about the regret of entering into certain romantic relationships, especially those that mix work and pleasure. Kat Hamilton of the duo confides, « we had both had bad experiences of dating music collaborators and bandmates. We both talked about how we wished we had kept those relationships platonic. This camaraderie is really the basis of our musical partnership. It was really fun for me to bring my queer experience to the track. It was a cool way to highlight the ways Emily and I had similar problems in mixing work with pleasure, regardless of the gender of our lovers. »

Guyville is a Los Angeles based duo composed of its founding members, Kat Hamilton and Emily Hulslander. The pair craft songs that combine elements of 90s rock, pop and Americana. As their name suggests, the legacy of Liz Phair brought these two powerful women together in songwriting bliss. The duo strikes the perfect chord with Hulslander’s intelligent pop approach and Hamilton’s confessional lyricism.

was formed during your usual Los Angeles writing session in the Valley. What was unusual was the easy flow and chemistry between the two prolific writers. Within a few hours, the duo had written their first song “Should’ve Never Dated”. Emily Hulslander had already made a strong name for herself in LA songwriting circles, but was struggling to find another writer who she could relax into the process with. Kat Hamilton was newer to LA, but felt unfulfilled as a writer. On that pivotal day, Emily and Kat found common ground in their failed relationships, artistic journeys and the women of the 90s.

This connection is highlighted in their debut

Guyville

single, “Nothing”. The end of summer jam combines elements of indie rock and 90s girl anthems with a sprinkle of Shania Twain. “Nothing” celebrates the wonderful post- breakup feeling of absolutely nothing for your ex. In the music video, Hamilton and Hulslander frolic in rose gardens and dance along sandy beaches. The result is a bubbly, tongue in cheek ode to getting over it and moving on.

With their latest track « Should Have Never Dated » Guyville crafts a highly infectious 90’s inspired indie rock song all about the regret of entering into certain romantic relationships especially those with other musical partners and collaborators. Mixing work with pleasure does not always end well and Guyville explores this in the magnetic « Should Have Never Dated ».

La première fois qu’AUD REY est apparue dans le paysage musicale francophone, c’était en 2018 avec un single aux sonorités eighties, Tu ne m’auras pas. L’occasion de découvrir une artiste au fameux « supplément d’âme » cher à Michel Berger. C’est rare.

AUD REY a connu plusieurs vies mais le besoin reconnecter avec l’artiste qu’elle a toujours été a pris le dessus cette année-là. Elle qui écrit depuis l’âge de 12 ans décide de s’adonner à sa passion absolue : la musique.

Comparaison n’est pas raison, mais il y a du Zazie et du Clara Luciani chez AUD REY. La première pour son charisme, ses textes profonds, la seconde pour sa modernité, sa joie de vivre et ses punchlines d’une redoutable efficacité. Il y a aussi dans son panthéon musical des artistes tels que Jean-Jacques Goldman et Stromae. Elle reprend d’ailleurs dans ce premier EP Tous les mêmes, validé par le maestro lui-même.

AUD REY est une artiste complète. Elle écrit tous ses textes, co-compose ses chansons et réalise ses clips. Parmi les collaborations artistiques de ce disque, on retrouve Paul Ecole (parolier de Christophe Maé et Calogero, entre autres), Luuk Cox (Stromae, Loïc Nottet, Alice on the Roof…), Jim Bauer et Valentin & Clément Aubert (Christophe Maé, Sophie and the Giants…).

AUD REY, c’est un timbre de voix fragile et touchant qui interprète des chansons aux thèmes sombres sur une pop joyeuse et souvent dansante.

AUD REY ne laisse rien au hasard. Même les titres sont placés logiquement puisqu’il y a un fil conducteur :

« Combien de temps » raconte le fait d’être enfermée pendant longtemps dans une situation dans laquelle on ne parvient pas à sortir.

« Le temps qui passe » parle de lui-même, les rêves passent en même temps que le temps, alors il faut faire ce que l’on aime avant qu’il ne soit trop tard.

« Mon destin » ou comment reprendre sa vie en main pour devenir enfin heureux.

En guise de conclusion : « Le bonheur ». Accédons désormais au bonheur, sans peur et sans regret, tout en ne se souciant plus du passé ni du futur.

La vidéo met en scène le concept du « Reflet » au travers d’une scénographie composée de deux tulles semi-transparents. Ces structures flottantes dans l’espace amènent des visuels de cristaux organiques autour de la performance live des musiciens. Ces éléments produits par le collectif OHME (une organisation bruxelloise de production et recherche en Artscience), proviennent d’un microscope à lumière polarisée et questionnent le rapport entre l’infiniment petit et l’infiniment grand.

Lauréate du FAIR 2022, Gatha est de retour avec le single Minutes de Calme Intérieur – MDCI. C’est dans l’écrin d’une pop dense et lascive, en français dans le texte, que Gatha, chanteuse et violoncelliste de formation classique, autrice-compositrice et productrice, a trouvé sa voix.

Originaire de Bordeaux, elle est portée depuis toujours par ses goûts éclectiques – des artistes telles que Sia, Mia, Alicia Keys, aux productions hip-hop des années 90/00. C’est en samplant les disques de son enfance et son violoncelle, intégrant également la technique du looping, que Gatha découvre les musiques actuelles et la production.

Après plusieurs années de travail sur le songwriting, son nom s’inscrit en première partie de Julien Doré, Asaf Avidan, ou de Yodelice, ainsi qu’à la composition de musique à l’image, pour des marques telles que Yves Saint Laurent, Vogue, Chanel.

En collaboration avec plusieurs beatmakers et producteurs : Blv (Isha, Nekfeu..), Studio Noble (Laylow, JazzyBazz, Kikesa..), Michel Gambatesa (Low Wood), Valentin Marceau (Vidéo Club , Suzane…), elle prépare un EP pour septembre 2022.

Gatha est visuellement inspirée par les surréalistes (Dali, Magritte…) et passionnée par les nouvelles approches de création et de design (3D, réalité augmentée…). Ses textes évoquent l’émancipation sociale, notre rapport à la productivité, au temps, à l’espace et à la combativité.

“The Day We Met” is about wishing you could relive a certain moment. Despite it’s feel-good sound, the raw and passionate lyrics tug on your heartstrings, allowing you to witness the deep yearning for a past memory.

Edith is a Romanian born, London based pop artist, whose music fuses infectious, dance worthy melodies with emotional, honest lyrics. Edith started writing songs and playing guitar at the young age of 10, when her family moved to England. Finding inspiration in her surroundings, she soaked up the music of The Beatles and Eric Clapton, mesmerised by their songwriting techniques and ability to allow listeners to feel the narrative of the song through their sounds. Combined with the synth pop sensibilities of Lauv and LANY, as well as the storytelling lyricism of Taylor Swift, Edith has concocted a sound which will remedy all of life’s hurdles.

Writing songs has always been her way of coping with whatever is going on in her life and dealing with her emotions. The songwriter shares, “I hope that my music is the kind people relate to. I hope it makes people feel like home. For me, that is the most important thing I look for in music. The story it captures. The thought that my music could help them go through a hard time, that’s what music is about, the connection between the people listening and the artist, because at the end of the day we all go through very different experiences but we all feel the same way.”

Her latest single “The Day We Met” is about wishing you could relive a certain moment. Edith confides, “I sat alone and replayed it over and over in my head and really wished I would have said how I really felt in that moment. It is really a sad song which I wanted people to dance to.”

With a steady, move-inducing beat and twinkling synths, the track is coated in a glossy, fluorescent soundscape, as she longingly sings, “Take me by the hand, to the bar where we first met, that look is so addictive”. Despite it’s feel-good sound, the raw and passionate lyrics tug on your heartstrings, allowing you to witness the deep yearning for a past memory.

:

“Four years ago, after I wrote this song, I came to the studio and recorded one take of the vocals (while I was lying on the sofa), just so we’ll have a guiding voice for the production process. When the work was almost over and it was time for the real singing, we discovered (after about 100 takes) that I can’t recreate the feel of the first draft. We decided to use the draft, even though it was recorded as if we were amateurs. Since then, for me, this song is about special sweet moments that you can’t recreate on demand”.

Après le succès de son titre « Angel » en featuring avec l’artiste Jok’air qui cumule déjà de centaine de milliers de streams et dont le clip est disponible sur YouTube, Atanaz revient avec « Vivre », qui met en image le titre éponyme de son album sorti le 10 décembre dernier.

Bercé par des accords mélancoliques, Atanaz à su rendre hommage à la prod de Lo Tamandua (Megaski, LMK, CaptainRoshi) avec une voix pleine de délicatesse et de douleur dans un flow entre chant et rap.

Le clip met en scène son histoire d’amour passionnée. On y navigue entre la liberté et l’enfermement, thèmes parfaitement illustrés notamment par la danseuse Jade Paz (PLK, Soso Maness). Les différents lieux présentés, et les plans jouant sur le clair/obscur sont tout autant de contrastes qui soulignent les phases de la vie, entre doutes, joie et remises en questions.
