« Different », the track « is a song but also a message that I’ve written to my younger self. Different is me giving younger me advice about how to navigate the world as a black person growing up in America. The music video features a series of tableaus based on life experiences I’ve had, » confides Gyasi.

blends hip-hop lyrics and R&B/Soul vocals with acoustic guitar, delivering a unique sound that has been described as a cross between John Legend, Jason Mraz and The Roots. Ross, originally from the Bay Area and now based in Los Angeles, is set to release his latest single, ‘Different’ with CatBeach Music on November 4, 2022. Produced by Bobby Hartry, ‘Different’ tells the compelling story of a young black kid, growing up with the racial and cultural tensions typical in urban USA. A personal story, Gyasi uses his lyrical acoustic hip-hop style to paint a picture of his life, while building the tension that he felt as the song progresses into an earthy and soulful tune with a rock edge. ‘Different’ ultimately crescendos into a declaration about the hope that can be found in this life.

His first defining moment occurred one day, in Pasadena California, in a smoke filled room with high school gangsters, musicians and poets. Gyasi recalls,

“I idolized my brother and his friends as they created music in circle, they called it a cipher. I was a fly on the wall in the 7th grade and desperately wanted to participate. At the time I didn’t understand how. My voice didn’t move or sound the way theirs did and I nearly gave up.”

In high school he was tricked into joining the marching band by a friend who asked, “Hey can you come up to school and hold some instruments?” I went to a predominantly African-American school and most students didn’t play music so the band director did all he could to make the marching band look full.

Not the type to fake anything, he started taking jazz trumpet lessons from Nolan Shaeed, an amazing trumpet player who was the musical director for Marvin Gaye. From there, he transitioned to guitar and hasn’t put it down since. After graduating from San Francisco State with a BA in Jazz Guitar and World Music from San Francisco State University, Gyasi released two studio albums, “By Any Means” and “If You Really Knew Me.”

Sparked from a co-writing session with collaborator Josh Palandi in Jakarta, this next single expands into chronicles of devotion and deliberation alike. Self-produced in Sydney, St. Humain’s next single was later mixed by Simon Cohen (Justin Bieber, Masked Wolf) at Studios 301 in Sydney and mastered by Dale Becker (Doja Cat, Lauv, Lil Nas X) at Becker Mastering in California.

Exploring discourses into the war inside your head that is often battled when you have feelings for somebody, « Pillow » comes to life with honesty and authenticity alike as he channels his dark, electro-pop energy into his next anthem. St. Humain has always been a remarkable storyteller, and « Pillow » is another exceptional example of such. He explains, « Maybe I’m too cautious, maybe I’m too scared. But this song captures the feeling of missing somebody (again) and wanting to be close to them… I’m thinking about them when I go to sleep, and it keeps me up sometimes. But at the same time, there’s something holding me back. My own heart is holding me back. I’m such a slow burn that I’m unable to simply dive into love and need to take things very gradually. This tension between wanting anything but withholding everything became Pillow.”

Paying homage to his love of pop, inspired by artists like Lauv, Dua Lipa and Post Malone, St. Humain consolidates his status as an incredible multidisciplinary artist. JustMike, le producteur d’Otis Stacks et Dafuniks est de retour avec son nouveau projet Sum’One chez Underdog Records.

Après plus de vingt ans dans divers projets, le producteur danois JustMike a décidé de sortir son premier projet solo sous l’alias Sum’One, à décrouvrir avec Crazy, un premier clip en animation, au gimmick électronique particulièrement entêtant.

Crazy marque le début d’une nouvelle aventure musicale. Depuis sa maison dans un petit village au bord de l’océan au nord du Danemark, JustMike produit un univers sonore unique qui combine tout le meilleur de ses genres préférés entre électro et beatmaking hip hop. Délaissant la vie urbaine et désormais entouré par les sons de la nature, le producteur aux multiples casquettes ouvre un nouveau chapitre musical, à savourer avec ce nouveau clip en animation, réalisé par Antonin Herveet.

JustMike dévoile avec le titre Crazy, son nouveau projet Sum’One. Depuis le début de sa carrière musicale et dès ses premières démos sur la MPC2000, Sum’One s’est inspiré d’artistes comme Moby, Rjd2, Dj Shadow, Portishead et Daft Punk. Sum’One a été particulièrement attiré par le genre instrumental électronique et basé sur des échantillons, où les instruments sont l’ingrédient principal lors de la création de l’ambiance musicale. Mais jusqu’à présent, il n’avait jamais eu la chance de mettre tout le reste de côté et de se concentrer à cent pour cent sur cela.

Reconnu en tant que fondateur et membre du groupe Dafuniks et Otis Stacks, il a subtilement dévoilé un univers, savant mélange de hip hop, de funk et de soul. Ces aventures passées ont donné à Sum’One l’opportunité de voyager à travers le monde et d’atteindre des objectifs qu’il n’aurait jamais imaginé possible comme collaborer avec des idoles d’enfance : Afrika Baby Bam de The Jungle Brothers, Akil the MC & Marc 7 de Jurassic 5 et le regretté Gift of Gab de Blackalicious. Pour Sum’One, JustMike a décidé de de se lancer seul, dans un voyage sonore personnel.

Le premier extrait de Sum’One est le bien nommé Crazy, qui annonce un EP Hello Vera attendu chez Underdog Records en 2023.

Sid Seth is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who forms a blissful blend of soul and pop into his truly unique repertoire. Originally from India, he moved to New York five years ago to study at the Manhattan School of Music, and has been pursuing music in the city ever since.

Working alongside producer Kris Crawford (Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Josh Groban), and Grammy winning mastering engineer Alex Psaroudakis, his next single “Caffeine High” came to life. Exploring the vibrance of the city that never sleeps, Sid’s latest tune came to fruition with spontaneity and excitement at its core. He explains, “This was written in New York. Of course, it changes everything! This song is a happy vibe however the pre-story may not necessarily be. NY is quite challenging at times and the most bustling city in the world can be quite secluded and lonely sometimes. I call it the heart-attack life. The lows are crazy and so are the highs.”

Growing up, his mom introduced him to The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Boney M and Abba, while Sid’s dad introduced him to the rhythm and melodies of Bollywood, Hindustani Folk Music and Indian Classical music. Paired with the soul-inspired tones of Michael Jackson and Ella Fitzgerald, Sid’s enriching sound can be attributed to his vast musical influences. Taking a more light-hearted approach to its predecessors, “Caffeine High” packs the perfect punch. Ear worm hooks and funky melodies make you want to dance, whilst his lyricism provokes thought and hope. He continues, “The word high was probably in the back of my head. And, I wasn’t really a big coffee drinker – at least not a New York coffee person (in terms of the quantity). For some reason, I started having 3-4 cups of coffee. I guess all of that triggered it and I wrote Caffeine High. I was laughing when I came up with that song title. It made me smile, which was exactly the vibe I wanted for the song, so I stuck with it.”

Narrating chronicles from fun nights in the city, unexpected encounters, and the vibrancy of having fun, this funky, dance-inspired ode to New York overflows with euphoria. It’s Sid’s hope that listeners will feel the passion too. The tremendous energy he possesses makes him a trailblazer of this time, with resonance and humbling authenticity shining through every second of this next offering.

Sid has performed in various venues in New York City, such as the Rockwood Music Hall, the Bowery Electric, Feinstein’s 54 Below, and the Green Room, as well as multiple cities in India. The single uses reflective lyricism about the past rappers’ experiences absorbed by gang life to contrast the full-circle success found through focus and music. The music video is chalk full of gold bars, excessive bands of cash, designer streetwear, and luxury jewelry as the four rappers celebrate over the flashing lights of their personal police car. Star2 is a driving force behind the abstract flow as he connects each rapper’s story with an ominous, intimidating hook. “Up” represents the struggles that everyone has overcome through sharp sonics and a diverse team of impactful voices.

The song and music video were finished in half a day – Mozzy began a one-year and one-day federal gun charge sentence at Atwater Federal Penitentiary in Merced, California a few days after the shoot. “Free Mozzy!!” Bino, Star2, and $tupid Young shout in unison when asked about the song – supporting their friend and compadre.

Like HoodTrophy Bino, Star2 is a collaborator of Soulja Boy’s. On his latest single “New Me”, Star2 brought together Luh Kel and Soulja Boy for an explosive rap performance. Star2 celebrates his journey through music as he began his life in a Thai refugee camp and gained passage to San Diego through a lottery.

Star2 is an Asian American singer, songwriter, and rapper from San Diego, California who stunningly fuses pop, R&B, and hip-hop for a captivating collision of sound. A true survivor, Star2 was born into a refugee camp in Thailand. His people, the Ka-ren from Burma, have suffered genocide by the Burmese military and Myanmar government.
