MEET MIDDLE PART:

Brooklyn-based indie pop artist Middle Part creates synth-laden music in the hopes of making you feel something. Composed with honesty and sincerity, the music takes inspiration from both 90’s and early Millenium alternative bands. Middle Part was born when singer Andrew Selkōw found himself in a serious depression and had to escape his current reality. Moving from Nashville to Alaska – not just to “find himself”, but to figure out how to live with himself – Andrew spent months folding boxes at a local pizza shop. It was in this monotonous and lonely state that he began writing songs simply as a way to get by. After moving to Brooklyn, those same songs – written in a dark time – have found a new light since beginning to work with producer and collaborator, Brian Zaremba. Middle Part’s six-track debut EP

I Wish I Was Alive

is heavily driven by his personal experiences, his shortcomings, his struggle with depression, dissociation and overall loss. It’s about grasping the concept of death, getting older, mental instability and self-reflection. Selkōw confides, “I wanted to make sure and let go of my ego before I pursued music again so that’s a big theme in this record as well as the inability to connect especially when you’re compartmentalizing everything all of the time. I wanted to be really honest and vulnerable in this batch of songs. I’m so goddamn sensitive and hate to show it, but it just bleeds through all of my music.” Listening to Middle Part is like reading one of Selkōw’s journal entries and uncovering all the back and forth he has in his head on a daily basis. Selkōw admits, “I just want people to relate. I so desperately want to connect and that might be the message…art is important, no matter how you decide to approach it. There’s no age or formula, so just create. It’s the most healing form of therapy I’ve ever experienced.”

Dernier single de Kenyon avant la sortie de son nouvel album « DATA » prévue le 19 mai prochain, « NDENGE NINI » est un titre Afro R&B, entraînant et chaleureux produit par Stately Beats. Avec une voix douce et une mélodie puissante, Kenyon nous embarque toujours plus dans son univers combinant les sonorités tant Afro/Caribéennes que Rap et R&B.

S’inspirant des grands noms internationaux de la musique Afro, Kenyon nous offre ici un single dans la veine d’un Burna Boy version francophone. Des influences que l’on retrouve non seulement dans la mélodie, mais également dans le clip qui nous transporte directement sur l’Île de Gorée au Sénégal. Un visuel parfaitement réalisé et haut en couleurs qui ne peut que nous donner envie de prendre part à la danse.

Kenyon est un artiste franco-congolais proposant une musique Afro- Caribéenne sous influences R&B, dans la lignée musicale d’artistes internationaux comme Rema ou Fireboy DML. Voix chaude et assurée, Kenyon est auteur-compositeur et interprète.

Réputé être un gros performeur en Live, il s’est fait connaître à ses débuts en gagnant le Buzz Booster national.

Signé chez Palace Prod courant 2022, Kenyon dévoile son tout premier album avec le single « AMAPIALOVE ». Quoi de plus logique pour lui que d’inviter sur celui-ci l’artiste phare de son nouveau label A2H. Le titre est un clin d’œil au genre musical Amapiano, courant venant d’Afrique du Sud en train d’exploser au-delà des frontières comme a pu le faire auparavant la scène Naija du Nigeria. Ce clip est tourné au Sénégal sous la forme d’un double clip présentant « AMAPIALOVE feat A2H / A$AP ». Si celui-ci est le titre principal mis en avant, le 2ème titre « A$AP » se révèle être un banger caribéen dans un style Reggae Dancehall ultra efficace, clin d’œil musical à ses débuts.

Septembre 2022, Kenyon nous dévoile en 2ème single « MARIANNA ». Kenyon propose avec ce titre une musique aux couleurs Afro R&B portée par une voix incroyable qui le place artistiquement aux côtés de Dadju et de Tayc. « MARIANNA » est un hit fédérateur et réunificateur entre l’Afrique et la Caraïbe et la gent féminine et masculine. Le titre bénéficiera d’un remix Kompa un mois après sa sortie.

En Novembre, Kenyon revient avec « ZIDANE », un titre rap gorgé de mélo sur une production de Stately Beats et dans la ligné musicalement d’un Tiakola. Il termine l’année 2022 avec le single « TEMPÉRATURE », un titre Afro Pop uptempo fédérateur à destination de la gente féminine.

Kenyon est désormais de retour avec « NDENGE NINI », un nouveau clip Afro R&B dans une veine à la Burna Boy qui prouve une nouvelle fois la puissance de ses mélos et l’étendue de son talent artistique.

« NDENGE NINI » est le dernier single de Kenyon avant la sortie de son nouvel album « DATA » à venir le 19 mai prochain. Un projet aux influences tant Afro- Caribéennes que Rap et R&B comme nous ont laissé entendre titres sortis jusqu’alors.

Emerging folk singer-songwriter Sean Healy shared his debut EP ‘North Wind’ on the 6th of April. The four tracks on the EP were written by Sean Healy himself and mixed and mastered by Chris Brown who has previously worked with industry greats such as Radiohead and Muse.

The singer returned to his hometown of Dublin last year, after spending several years in China. While there, Sean spent time working in the animation and film business in China and with New Zealand and Europe. His brimming creativity has been focused mostly on creating and performing music in Ireland and the UK for the last year.

”, l’artiste nous plonge dans un moment de vie où elle se sent tanguer, sans réelle idée de la marche à suivre, du cap qu’il faut viser. Son caractère toxique reprend le dessus ; elle ne parvient pas à se détacher de ce qui lui fait du mal.

L’artiste fait à nouveau le choix du format rhode voix, qui se mélangent, s’intensifient jusqu’à nous laisser en suspens à la fin du morceau, comme pour annoncer le changement à venir dans l’histoire qu’elle nous raconte.

La musique d’Illa est une affaire de métissage. Entre le noir et le blanc des touches du piano sur lequel elle compose tous ses morceaux, l’auteure-compositrice franco-ivoirienne de 25 ans laisse sa voix se promener entre les extrêmes et ne s’interdit rien. Illa grandit loin de sa mère. Pour se construire en tant que femme dans notre société, elle se réfère à celles qu’elle voit à la télévision, dans les publicités, dans les affiches de rue ou dans les films.

Très jeune, elle prête attention aux comportements humains et se pose des questions sur l’amour, la mort, la bonté et parfois la malhonnêteté qui semblent régir la grande majorité des comportements, réflexions qu’elle canalise grâce à sa musique. C’est son père qui lui transmet son amour pour la chanson. Dès son enfance, il lui joue de la guitare, et lui chante des chansons. Pendant 10 ans, elle suit des cours de piano avec un professeur particulier du conservatoire, et apprend en parallèle le chant et la guitare en autodidacte. Très vite, elle compose au piano et se met à faire de ses pensées les plus intimes des poèmes, puis des chansons.

« J’ai grandis en écoutant Bashung, Angus et Julia Stones, Bob Dylan et les autres artistes qu’écoutait ou nous chantait mon père. C’est dans les morceaux les plus bruts que je ressentais le plus d’émotions et proximité avec l’artiste, comme si les mots et les mélodies résonnaient directement dans mon corps. »

The lyrics, “Been stuck in the midnight hour, now I’m dancing till the sun” highlights the feeling of being trapped but eventually being set free and finally being able to really express your true feelings.

The accompanying music video is filmed in a “typical” date setting and represents the different feelings and sides to people’s relationships and how they might try and cover things up. The fun and playful video shows the singer dressed in different outfits and colours, reflecting the battle of mixed emotions when going through a difficult time.

La musicienne nous dévoile aujourd’hui son nouveau clip Push Me, featuring Philippe Katerine. Dans le clip réalisé et conçu par ses propres soins, Laura Perrudin associée à Philippe Katerine nous entraîne dans un théâtre rouge et or, pour un sondage d’évaluation à la fois obsédant et obstiné, mené par quatre visages. Traitant de la notion de normes, confrontant les différents cadres qui nous régissent en mettant en scène quatre personnages entre dystopie absurde, graphisme chirurgical et légèreté pop et colorée, Push Me détourne la pièce de danse contemporaine The Siberian Trombinoscope créée en 2019 par les chorégraphes Léa Rault et Alina Bilokon. Le titre annonce également la sortie d’un live-album de Laura Perrudin « Live Featuring The Ghost Orchestra » en mai 2023.

Laura Perrudin se nourrit de jazz depuis l’enfance et étudie très tôt la musique classique tout en explorant de front les musiques électroniques et expérimentales, le hip-hop, la soul, la pop et à peu près tout ce qui fait du bruit. Formée auprès de nombreux musiciens de sa Bretagne natale, elle part ensuite à la recherche de nouvelles perspectives à New York et à Paris.

Elle cherche à ouvrir les possibilités de la harpe à un langage plus vaste. Elle joue sur instrument conçu sur-mesure : la harpe chromatique électrique. Elle lui permet aujourd’hui de s’aventurer dans des univers sonores électriques et électroniques aux spectres très larges, évoquant Amon Tobin, Björk ou encore Flying Lotus, tout en empruntant les chemins sinueux des harmonies impressionnistes d’un Debussy ou d’un Wayne Shorter.
