On the release she confides, « It describes my own adversity and experience with pursuing my dreams and it is more of a metaphor for everyone and what it means to put your health and heart out on the line without knowing what the future holds at any point in time “Hollywood’ is glamorized as a place where people can be whoever they want to be and live out their wildest dreams, but no one ever talks about the thousands and thousands of rejections and thoughts of giving up and giving in to one of those critics or “no’s” that tell you it’ll never happen, whether you or someone else is the critic themselves. No one talks about the mental strength and sacrifice it takes to make a dream come true. »

Born and raised in Hawai’i, 21 year old, Sydney Agudong, made her first on-stage debut at 18 months old, and knew that’s where she belonged.

The multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, ukulele) spent her childhood years singing in local talent shows and competitions, receiving awards and recognition at every stop. At 10, Sydney wrote and recorded her first original song called “I’m So Sorry” that was later played and requested on local Hawaiian radio stations.

Sydney moved to Los Angeles to continue her life as a musician and as an actress. Sydney Agudong is now ready to introduce her new musical persona to the world – Jayne Doe, with the release of her first single, “Welcome to Hollywood,” a metaphor for what it means to live in the glamorous “city of stars and angels,” the process of rejections, and the mental strength and sacrifice it takes to make a dream come true.

Sydney Agudong, AKA Jayne Doe, is working on reshaping her musical persona with the name Jayne Doe, taking a twist on the known phrase “Jane Doe”, and reinventing it as a girl shamelessly trying to find out who she is and where she belongs in an effort to normalize the fear we all have of the unknown. Sydney is collaborating with Al Machera, a music industry veteran that engineered the famous “Salt N Pepa” and co-founded Westlake Recording Studios, a highly utilized and respected recording company known best for Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” Album. Al is helping Sydney bring her musical world to life, as she joined him under his new Westlake branch publishing company called Fr8 Train Media Group (a publishing company that creates and licenses songs for film, television, promotional material, and song placement). She also collaborates with other successful artists, writers, and producers on their projects as well as sync licensing, some that are currently in development.

When she’s not in the studio and out performing, Sydney is quickly developing her on-screen credits in TV and film. She shot a lead role in her first feature film titled, « West Michigan,” and booked a recurring guest star role on Netflix’s “On My Block”.

Sydney, aka Jayne Doe, is in the process of developing an album and writing songs as she continues to build far beyond her “Welcome to Hollywood.”

The third full-length from Tall Heights,

Juniors

emerged from a period of profound turmoil and revelation for the Massachusetts duo. In the span of five months, Paul Wright and Tim Harrington experienced a convergence of events that included major health and substance-abuse crises among their closest loved ones, saying goodbye to Harrington’s grandfather and to a beloved grandfather figure for Wright, and—in far happier, yet still intense news—the announcement that each of their wives was expecting. Compounded by a series of shake-ups in their professional life, that upheaval coincided with the start of the pandemic. Rather than succumbing to the tremendous pressure of that point in time, Tall Heights chose to confront the chaos by creating within it. The result: an album that precisely channels the pain, uncertainty, and unbridled joy of its inception.

As they set to work on

Juniors

, Harrington and Wright discovered an unexpected outcome of the loss that they’d endured: a shift in mindset that enabled them to embrace a boundless curiosity and exploratory spirit even more powerful than when they first formed Tall Heights (an endeavor that began when Harrington, on guitar, and Wright, on cello, used to busk on the streets of Boston back in the late 2000s). In a nod to the wide-eyed perspective that arose from the album’s creation, the duo chose a title evocative of youthful wonder. “After everything we went through, we came to a place of understanding that we have no control, that each new day is an adventure we need to approach with beginner’s eyes,” says Harrington. Wright adds: “Through all the discomfort, we took it as our mission to stay humble and hungry, to know that everything will change and to be prepared to find something of real value in that—and to find ourselves in it, too.”

came to life at “The Tall House”—the Northeastern Massachusetts home where Wright and Harrington lived together for six years with their wives, pets, and Harrington’s firstborn son, eventually moving out in August 2020. In a departure from the elaborate production process that yielded its predecessor, the two musicians wrote and recorded most of

Juniors

in isolation, holing up on the third floor of the household they liken to a joyfully anarchic artist commune. “It all happened in this tiny, hectic, beautiful space where our wives were also working from home, both pregnant, and there’s a dog and a cat that hated each other, and then Tim’s toddler who’d just started walking would come barging in and start dancing mid-take, joining in a song with us,” Wright recalls. Despite the nonstop disruption, TallHeights soon found their way to a shapeshifting sound that illuminates their singularity like never before. “Because we were cut loose and isolated within this space and time, we ended up capturing something incredibly and uniquely us in the new sound we created,” Harrington points out.

In putting the finishing touches on

Juniors

, Tall Heights headed to Omaha and worked with producers Mike Mogis (Paul McCartney, Phoebe Bridgers, Bright Eyes) and Oliver Hill, who helped refine and enrich the backdrop of their emotionally raw songwriting. On the opening track “Keeps Me Light,” the band muses on the ineffable comfort and safety of true connection, intensifying the track’s radiant mood with the luminous vocals of a Berklee College of Music a cappella group called Upper Structure. Revealing the complexity of

, Tall Heights then drift into the wistful reverie of “Locked Out,” a song inspired by Wright’s struggle to help his wife through a severe bout of anxiety. “Paul and I each wrote the lyrics to ‘Locked Out,’ which I think points back to how intertwined our lives have become,” says Harrington. “It’s so unlikely that I could have felt his pain as hard as I did—but because I was living it too in that house, what’s fiercely personal to Paul became fiercely personal to me.”

The most commanding track on

Juniors

, “Hear It Again” took shape as Tall Heights messed around with an assortment of synthesizers they’d borrowed from their friend and tourmate Ben Folds, arriving at a tender rumination on home and belonging. “We’ve spent so much of our time living on the road, and that song is our way of asking, ‘What if that’s the place where we feel the most safety and consistency and stability?’” says Harrington. In a particularly poignant turn, “The Mountain” reflects on the losses that Harrington and Wright recently suffered, transforming that heartache into a moment of healing. “A friend had texted us a photo of his grandfather on the day before he died: he was sitting in a hospital bed looking out the window at the mountains, and the sun was shining on his face,” says Wright. “That song came from thinking about our friend’s grandmother saying goodbye to his grandfather and sending him off on his journey, but in a way it also speaks to how there’s been so much collective loss over the past year.” Meanwhile, on “Raindrop,” Tall Heights offer up a meditation on emotional responsibility. “Sometimes a relationship can get intense in the wrong place and time,” says Harrington. “So, in the end, it’s a song about choosing which relationships deserve your all, and when to let things go and move on with your life.”

Looking back on the tumultuous year that gave rise to their latest album, Harrington and Wright note that they’ve adopted the

Juniors

outlook as something of a spiritual ethos: a realization that every new endeavor—no matter how familiar—will undoubtedly present new challenges and extraordinary surprise, ultimately reminding them that they are still but juniors. “I feel ready to view each next chapter of Tall Heights as another round of

Juniors

,” says Harrington. “This experience has emboldened us to create in any situation—because when life got very intense, we doubled-down on what we care about the most: creating songs together. And it felt fresh and new in that context.” And although leaving the Tall House proved nothing short of heartbreaking, the duo have found their devoted bond to be stronger than ever. “This record gave us the chance to really understand what we have in each other as weird partners on the great journey of self-exploration,” says Wright. “We know now that the Tall House can be a state of mind, not just a place of refuge. So while chaos continues, we’re able to fully see the beauty that can come from it.”

n’est encore qu’un enfant lorsqu’il découvre le jeu de jambes d’Elvis Presley à la télévision. Il y voit une vérité.

Foudroyé par un désir de scène qu’il ne pourra jamais taire, le voilà catapulté dans le monde de la musique, imitant d’abord le King avec un balai en guise d’instrument.

Puis dans les années 80 en pleine effervescence de la nouvelle scène « alternative », il joue dès qu’il le peut avec son groupe de rockabilly (The Wanderers) aux côtés d’autres formations, comme la Mano Negra, Wampas…

Après plusieurs années passées dans une école d’art à Londres, dans les années 90, l’homme touche-à-tout tord le carton et participe à la conception des décors pour l’émission tv jeunesse les Minikeums, il chante sur son projet personnel Sportès et enregistre un album chez Eric Serra avant de découvrir les possibilités qu’offre la musique sur ordinateur. Il se lance alors distraitement dans

un nouveau duo électro intitulé Sporto Kantès

qui siffle encore aujourd’hui aux oreilles du plus grand nombre. Succès. L’aventure aux côtés de Nicolas Kantorowicz, bassiste des Wampas, durera quinze ans et quatre albums. En 2013, il tourne la page pour une période empreinte de questionnements sur l’avenir. Il en ressort un rejet total et momentané de la musique et une profusion de dessins crayonnés, griffonnés, noirs, caustiques, poétiques…

En 2016, c’est la musique qui reprend le dessus lorsqu’il se décide à présenter son nouveau projet solo intitulé

Futuro Pelo

(les futurs cheveux pour un homme qui n’en a plus). Les équipes de Pain Surprises et Délicieuse Musique accueillent avec enthousiasme ce joyeux mélange de pop, de textes chantés en français, anglais, espagnol, et de samples trouvés par d’heureux hasards dans les sons de sa collection personnelle qui navigue entre tous les extrêmes (rockabilly, world, funk, pop moderne, house…). Futuro Pelo compile sa science de la pop et ses trouvailles dans deux EP successifs sortis en 2017 (Bluff) et 2018 (Eden). La naissance de Futuro Pelo s’accompagne de celle de Monsieur Bouche présent sur les pochettes et les clips. Monsieur Bouche est l’ami imaginaire de Benjamin Sportès, sa façon d’exprimer en dessin ce qu’il n’arrive pas à dire à l’oral.

Début 2020 sort le premier album, A BIGGER SPLASH, en clin d’oeil à David Hockney

et allégorie au grand saut du premier album. Avec ce titre, Benjamin Sportès matérialise aussi un saut dans le vide, le besoin de « dire » les choses, de moins faire diversion et d’être au plus près des émotions.

Arbre de vie, le troisième album de Louis Arlette, est un disque qui chérit les refuges, de la vision du ciel au grain d’une peau, ce que l’on peut garder de plus précieux, de plus beau. Comme sur le saisissant Blanc et Bleu, né des toutes premières sessions d’écriture : un titre en forme d’ascension, de retour à la surface, porté par une batterie qui pulse comme du sang dans les veines et des synthés tournoyants. Inspiré par un voyage en Crète, il en reprend les couleurs, la lumière sur la mer, pour en faire un fantasme, presque mystique dans sa simplicité.

Autres exemples de ces titres qui semblent planer sur l’élan de refrains puissants : A la vie à la mort, qui célèbre l’amour et la sensualité. Et Le Promeneur, bel écho d’un instant de paix intense passé au crépuscule, à contempler un château.

A2H continue de nous dévoiler les titres de son prochain album « Une rose et une lame » et d’affirmer sa place si singulière dans la scène française portée par un talent protéiforme délivrant une musique qui touche l’excellence et un parcours sans faute. « Solo » est un titre doux qui s’ouvre sur un arrangement de guitare acoustique et électrique propre à A2H. La vibe est unique et nous emporte immédiatement. Tout comme le clip réalisé par Willy Guittard, où l’on retrouve un A2H tantôt « Solo », tantôt accompagné. A2H sait toucher les cœurs par une sincérité à fleur de peau.

« Une rose et une lame » se présentera sous la forme d’un double album, « Une rose » étant le volet plus chanté et « Une lame » étant le volet rap. « Solo » est ainsi le 2ème extrait de la partie chanson « Une rose ».

Son premier coup d’éclat auprès du public fut « Elle ne veut pas » en 2014. Pour la première fois un artiste rap français décentrait le propos du chanteur masculin pour adopter le point de vue de la femme. « Elle ne veut pas » sonnait comme un hashtag avant l’heure. A2H y embrasse déjà certains codes de la chanson française et met en avant de manière décomplexée sa fragilité, ouvrant ainsi en pionner deux ans avant l’heure la voix à un renouveau du rap français, traçant le chemin pour des dizaines d’artistes derrière lui.

Le rookie se transforme alors en pionnier.

Dans sa musique, A2H synthétise toutes ses envies et ses appétits musicaux. Ses titres respirent la sensualité, le touché organique de la Soul et du RnB. Lui-même guitariste de Blues, A2H convie ses vieux démons façon Robert Johnson. A2H revient en juin 2021 avec le single « La tête du clebs », un titre qui marque le retour en grande pompe de A2H dans le rap à 100% et le kickage dans les règles de l’art à travers une esthétique actuelle. La production est signée AAyhasis (producteur pour Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Alpha Wann). « La tête du clebs » s’inscrit clairement dans cette couleur de son rap actuel très bien produit à la TDE et J. Cole. Le titre est suivi en août 2021 du single « Doucement mais sûrement », un vrai banger rap qui prolonge cette même esthétique.

La rentrée 2021 est marquée pour A2H par un gros buzz TikTok avec son titre « Le cœur des filles » qui commence d’exploser début septembre. Le titre monte continuellement depuis plus de 3 mois et se retrouve dans les tops TikTok, tops Shazam, tops Spotify et tops singles. Le titre est actuellement classé dans le top 10 TikTok et dans le top 100 Spotify. Le titre est également classé depuis 8 semaines dans le top singles et continue encore actuellement son ascension.

Joshy Soul is an artist who finds his stride amongst the things he knows best: art and soul. As a performer, writer, producer, art director, stylist, fashion model, and roller-skating provocateur, his medium traverses first note to the last, first thread to final seam, and curtain draw to fall. His craft of art and soul varies as much as the clothes he struts.
