KID BE KID tells us: “

News Feed is a self-deprecating summary of how addicted we are to those mean little screens. Instead of this senseless consumption of information, we should rather swing our hips and dance. That’s exactly why News Feed has a positive vibe.”

Recently, KID BE KID sang on several scores for the 2022 Netflix film Rumspringa. In 2017, she released her debut album

and followed up with her 2020 EP

. In 2022, she collaborated with Henrik Schwarz and Bugge Wesseltoft on the single

‘My first life’

and has been touring Europe non-stop since last summer. Drawing influence from Little Simz, Frank Ocean, and Kaytranada, her music is comparable to multi-talented musicians H.E.R and Frank Ocean as well as live-performance talents Jacob Collier and DOMi & JD BECK.

KID BE KID has been a celebrated sensation for years for her live performances, so it’s no wonder that she is only too happy to make fun of all the boring online productions, including bloated self-marketing in her lyrics:

Originating from Berlin, Germany, pianist, singer, and human beatbox KID BE KID was raised by professional musicians. Her parents only listened to classical music, so she recorded her favourite songs off the radio and explored her taste in secrecy. Later, she learned to play the piano but disliked staring at the sheet music. At 19, She found freedom from the confines through Jazz improvisation, which led her to experiment with aspects of Neo Soul, Hip Hop, and Pop.

London-based producer Crxssxs (pronounced ‘crosses’) shares his brand new single

‘Anxious Avoident

’, out everywhere on 23 February. The track features rising alt-R&B singer-songwriter Merunisa.

Born from a musical session between Crxssxs, Merunisa and producer 284, the track was initially written as a ballad on piano. The concept of the track came after discussing life, musical inspiration and attachment styles, and many of the lyrics came from the conversations had between the trio.

Naming D’Angelo, Prince and Kaytranada as his main influences, Crxssxs thrives off being able to experiment with the emotions and feelings he’s able to convey with his music. Completely transforming the track, he incorporates driving beats and slick production with R&B, hip-hop and afrobeat elements. The juxtaposition between the seriousness of the lyrical content and the upbeat instrumental creates something which is as easily danceable as it is thought-provoking.

Speaking of the track, he says, “

After discussing life, musical inspiration and general thoughts we decided to speak about relationship attachment types as Merunisa and 284 where new to the concept. As I was defining the attachment styles we decided that it was an interesting concept and would it be good to share with the wider world as a song. Once we finished writing the song and recording the demo at my studio I went away and produced the song fully fleshing it out into the track that it is today.

I want my listeners to know that being Anxious Avoidant is normal and more people should be conscious of attachment styles and how they fall into them.”

Merunisa’s live performances and social presence have started to garner attention with her music being frequently played on BBC Radio 1 Introducing, Reprezent Radio, Balami, Amazing Radio and many more. Alongside critical acclaim from Big Leap Creative, Woman to woman and Tits upon Tyne, she is also receiving cosigns from fellow London artist AJ Tracy.

Auren a sorti en début d’année son troisième album Il s’est passé quelque chose et vient nous le présenter le 27 mars 2023 sur la scène de la Boule Noire à Paris, et en tournée partout en France.

Le ton musical de ce troisième album d’Auren : un mélange de batterie syncopée, rappelant le funk de la Nouvelle Orléans, et de batteries électroniques. Des riffs et des nappes de crumar cuivré, un mix de contrebasse et de mini moog sur lesquels la musicienne pose sa voix tantôt chantée, tantôt déclamée.

Sa plume, déliée, est le tremplin pour une envolée nouvelle : elle dévoile cette parole de femme aguerrie dans une formule douce-amère où elle se heurte à l’époque qui angoisse, saisit l’agitation des nuits douloureuses, s’attaque à la négligence climatique, observe le mensonge et la langue de bois. C’est par la collaboration avec Nicolas Dufournet, réalisateur, et Romain Galland, guitariste, que les textes ont rencontré musique et arrangements. Ses fidèles acolytes se sont cette fois-ci déplacés chez elle, au pied de la montagne. Autour du piano désaccordé de sa grand-mère, les textes d’Auren sont l’objet de tous les jeux ; les co-compositions engendrent le titre Au bord de la Nuit. Finalisé au studio Melodium à Paris, cette chanson donne le ton à ce que deviendra ce troisième album : un mélange de batterie syncopée, rappelant le funk de la Nouvelle Orléans, et de batteries électroniques. Des riffs et des nappes de crumar cuivrés, et un mix de contrebasse et de mini moog. Pour l’enregistrement, elle sera rejointe par Mathieu Denis (contrebasse et basse) et Scott Bricklin (claviers et batterie). La voix qu’elle y appose est tantôt chantée, tantôt parlée, et l’on y décèle les influences d’artistes urbains (Oxmo Puccino), de la scène française et internationale contemporaine (L’impératrice, Lana Del Rey) et de la chanson à texte (Souchon, Feu! Chatterton, Benjamin Biolay, les Rita Mitsouko).

Il s’est passé quelque chose est marqué par l’émancipation musicale, littéraire et thématique.

», dit-elle. Les mots ont été le support d’une sorte de colère créatrice. Ses textes, éminemment poétiques, trouvent leur ancrage dans des considérations fortes, politiques et sensibles, et c’est d’une voix nue et claire qu’elle les incarne avec grâce.

Auren sera le 27/03/2023 à la Boule Noire à Paris et en tournée française pour nous faire découvrir l’album Il s’est passé quelque chose.
