HALF MOON RUN

Nouveau clip « Everyone’s Moving Out East »

half moon run présente son nouveau clip everyone s moving out east

The track was written at the peak of lockdown when it felt like no one was OK. Dan Knowles of the band confides, « The conversations were inevitably mostly about anxieties and hardships, work and money worries, relationship issues, apocalyptic stuff, a lot of people seemed to be barely hanging on and were all processing it in their own way. So, the song lyrically draws on conversations from that time. » The enthralling visuals directed by singer Jennifer Farmer was shot in one room and played on time in the editing to mirror how insane lockdown was and how it felt like a dream.

The Know began in late 2018 when Daniel Knowles suggested to his wife, Jennifer Farmer, that instead of traveling home for the holidays (to the UK and Texas respectively) that the LA based transplants stay put and try to create music together, just the two of them. This would be the married couple’s gift to themselves.

For the next few weeks, they isolated themselves in their home studio with no real plan, just a mutual love of Beach House, Julee Cruise, Ye Ye, The Jesus and Mary Chain, 60’s girl groups, dream pop, and the evocative storytelling lyricism of Patsy Cline and The National.

The result was their debut EP shared in 2020, a stunning blend of dream pop and shoegaze. Entitled

the six track

collection of songs provided an unflinching look at the couple, delving deep into the duo’s personal lives by honestly narrating stories from their relationship and life experiences against a kaleidoscopic sonic palette. Leading single ‘143′ melded autobiographical with fantastical lyrics and unfolds as a series of conversations, images, and hazy recollections of a night out. While ‘Hold Me Like You Know Me’ garnered comparisons to David Lynch’s

Twin Peaks

and Phil Spector’s

Wall of Sound

.

The Know’s second EP (EP2) is lyrically full of relatable snapshots of love, loss, isolation, uncertainty, sadness and connection. Completed during the pandemic and in a time of intense isolation, the EP was produced by Farmer and Knowles and mostly recorded in their home studio in a short span of time.

Leading single ‘Used to Be’ details the complexities of romantic relationships specifically when they were heightened during the pandemic. Knowles confides,“then of course the pandemic hit, people all around us were having their relationships tested in lockdown with significant others, some relationships came out stronger, some didn’t survive. And on a more universal scale lots of people worldwide were dealing with a loss of normality, loss of connection with other people, suddenly not being able to do simple things like buy groceries, things we’d all taken for granted.” Sonically, “Used to Be” features hazy guitars, warm melodies and atmospheric soundscapes that are on the edge of uncontrollable making for an enthralling listen. The accompanying cinematic music video was directed and created by Farmer and profiles a troubled relationship representing the highs, the lows and the mundane moments in a non-linear fashion.

The second single ‘Me’ is « reminiscent of the start of a relationship and events between two people during lockdown but this one mostly covers the good stuff. It’s a love song about the thrill you feel when you connect with another person, » proclaims Farmer. ‘Me’ is an enthralling cinematic slice of dream pop complete with romantic lustrous landscapes and dreamy vocals.

The track ‘NCJC’ was written at the peak of lockdown when it felt like no one was OK. Dan confides, « The conversations were inevitably mostly about anxieties and hardships, work and money worries, relationship issues, apocalyptic stuff, a lot of people seemed to be barely hanging on and were all processing it in their own way. So, the song lyrically draws on conversations from that time. » The enthralling visuals directed by Jennifer was shot in one room and played on time in the editing to mirror how insane lockdown was and how it felt like a dream.

The Know have found success attracting fans across the globe with their authentic narratives and dazzling mix of genres. Their debut EP garnered praise from thelikes of

New single “Past Tense”

Spotify

Emerging East London based singer KAE SERA blends modern day electro-pop with sounds from the 50’s and 60’s to create something which is both unique yet familiar. Originally from Liverpool, the artist grew up in a city rich in musical heritage, exposed to the nostalgic soundscapes of the bands that made the city famous. These sounds subliminally fed her musical appetite, giving her music a vintage haze and maturity. With a fascination for literature and poetry, her songs provide a captivating, storytelling experience, pulling you into her world.

Her latest single “Past Tense” documents the fading memories of a once cherished relationship, where one person is left with an overwhelming sense of inadequacy. Reflecting on how the love that was once shared gradually becomes mere words that describe a long lost state of being, and a distant past that can never be relived. The artist shares, “My music is often about weighing up contradictory emotions and holding the good and the bad together.”

“Past Tense” sees KAE SERA’s electronic approach evolve. Having started its conception in the Balearics, the artist found inspiration in the beat of chillout moments at sunset. Written in Ibiza, mixed and recorded in France and released from England, the song’s unique blend of influences from different cultures and locations emphasises the beauty in how music can create its own universal language.

The remix, which premiered on Electronic Groove, will be available on the 19th of May via Sola Musa Music. The original single is featured on their latest album, Lessons In Time, which saw the light in October of 2022.

Karmacoda’s work has been remixed by the likes of Extrawelt, Sailor & I, Lycoriscoris, KRONO, and Birds Of The West, which received support from Dancing Astronaut, Magnetic Mag, Stereofox, HMWL, EDM Identity, FAZE Magazine, and Decoded Mag. E39 has redefined Jessica Ford’s vocals with his new remix, leading her from a smoky jazz speakeasy to the strobing dancefloor. A four-on-the-floor kick entwines with a funk bassline to set the groove in motion, animating the track with each passing moment.

Based in San Francisco, USA, KARMACODA is comprised of Jessica Ford (vocals), Brett Crockett (aka B. on vocals and producer) and Japanese-American multi-instrumentalist Eric Matsuno (bass and other unique elements). The trio’s sound has been compared to a unique mix of Paloma Faith, Adele, and Pixie Lott.

As a DJ, remixer, and producer, Peter Tanico, also known as E39, has been a DJ in NYC since the mid-’80s, mixing cutting-edge dance music into extended club performances under the moniker DJ Peter T. His passion is music production and remixing, where he strives to perfect his skills, creating works comparable to the likes of Purple Disco Machine, Kraak & Smaak, and Mark Knight.

E39 shares his appreciation, grateful for the opportunity to work with the band:

“As a remixer, getting to work with such amazing talent like Karmacoda is a dream come true. The moment I heard ‘Dare’ I knew I had to take it on. A hit in every sense of the word. Thank you Karmacoda.”

The band has also earned several awards including the Hermes Creative Awards (Platinum) for the ‘Lo-Fi Girl’ video and ‘Make Me The One’ video which also earned one Unglued Music Video (Gold) and three Davey Awards for Video Entertainment, Best Use of Music and Art Direction (all Silver).

New single « Never Never »

Spotify

The Dionysus Effect is back with « Never Never » a ferocious anthem about an unwavering passion between two lovers. Colliding blues-drenched guitars under grunge rock inspired vocals singing explosive melodies make « NEVER NEVER » a seductive rapture.

New York-based trio, The Dionysus Effect, was formed in a dark basement with a passion for writing songs that conjure up raw energy but are still catchy af with boundary-pushing hooks. Members, Christoph Paul (lead vocals/ bass), Sean Quinn Hanley (guitar/backup vocals), and Brett Petersen (drums) combine their diverse musical backgrounds and talents for a unique explosion of sound. Their music is an enthralling hybrid of grunge rock, darkwave indie, alt-rock and pop, that forges a poetic expression filled with furious arena energy. The band blends several different eras of rock but the term Cocaine Rock encapsulates the sound.

With songs ranging from stories about a cuckold named Darryl, going to rehab because of heroin addiction, and a love that feels like joining a cult. Encapsulating the influence the band has on many of their listeners, the name ‘The Dionysus Effect’ is when the passion overtakes you and you feel most alive with Dionysus energy. Dionysus was a Greek God, who in ancient times brought about ecstasy, insanity and ritual madness, mirroring when the band performs their live show and puts the audience under a trance — that is The Dionysus Effect.

The Dionysus Effect is here to play rock music that captures the spiritual and sexual danger and excitement of being alive. From their forthcoming debut album, their next single « Never Never is out now.

kdg se positionne en avant gardiste avec son nouveau single et sa marque streetwear
Nouveau single « Avant Gardiste »

New single “Her Melody

Spotify

Washington D.C. based Dale and the ZDubs are back with an infectious feel-good summer reggae rock meets pop banger “Her Melody”. The single features reggae pop icon and songstress HIRIE, who infuses the song with her captivating pop brilliance. Riding high on a wave of vocal bliss, the single ruminates on the essence of the honeymoon phase, where you just can’t get enough of someone.

“Her Melody Feat. HIRIE » is anthemic to the reggae-rock scene with shockwave percussion, rhythmic strokes of electric guitar, and a vocal dynamic that lures you in with mellow poise and undeniable chemistry. This single celebrates lead singer Dale Rodman’s release from a three year prison sentence for a non-violent drug crime, and it’s certainly a comeback as he graces the hypnotic track with his smooth and powerful vocals. “Her Melody” is filled with surf-riding sonics and relatable lyrics that plunge into the depths of human connection.

Dale and the ZDubs’ impressive live circuit has led them to perform alongside artists including BALLHYOO!, Badfish – a tribute to Sublime, Little Stranger, Kash’d Out, Joe Samba, and Artikal Sound System and more. “Her Melody feat. HIRIE » is their latest release, announcing to the world that Dale and the ZDubs are back, and better than ever.

From prison to pandemic, Dale and the ZDubs are back in full force. Inspired by Dale’s 2017 to 2020 incarceration for a non-violent drug crime, DZD’s recent releases combine a distinct reggae influence intertwined with a hard-hitting rock style to tell raw, ridiculous, and vulnerable stories.

After the 3 year hiatus, Dale, Miles, Johan, Pat, and Julian went to work during quarantine to put instrumentation and melody behind the lyrics Dale wrote on the inside. Dale also hit up some old friends to be part of the comeback. The result is the current stream of saucy singles including “This Time” feat. The Elovaters, “Pathological” feat. Bumpin Uglies, and of course, « Her Melody » feat. HIRIE.

DZD’s absolute obsession with performing live is the catalyst of their continuously heavy tour schedule (if Dale isn’t in prison and/or the world isn’t ending). DZD has recently shared the stage with the likes of BALLHYOO!, Badfish – a tribute to Sublime, Little Stranger, Kash’d Out, Joe Samba, and Artikal Sound System. High-energy live shows feature multi-part vocal harmonies, along with thick guitar driven melodies. And sometimes Dale gets pretty close to naked.

mike rogers share their new song live out loud

Mike Rogers share their new song « Live Out Loud »

mike rogers share their new song live out loud

New song « Live Out Loud »

Spotify

Mike Rogers in an Amsterdam based indie dance trio who make bold music to make big musical gestures without sensationalism. Encouraging listeners to live in the moment, Mike Mago, TWR72 and the lead singer of Kita Menari have joined forces to craft something which is unlike anything you’ve heard before.

Mike and Roger met during the famous Dutch underground electro parties in early 2000, where they both performed as DJ’s. The raw and energetic scene saw the two playing a mixture of electro, French house, fidget and techno. As years passed by, they both started to develop their own sound, but noticed they had a similar dream; to start a live act inspired by the acts they grew up with, including Mike Snow, Foals, Editors, Van She and Goose to name a few. Thus, they created Mike Rogers, as a way to bring an extra challenge and development next to their DJ and production career.

Bringing in singer Micha to add big vocals to their signature sound, the combined creativity of the three has reached a whole new level. Their upcoming debut album combines analog with digital and retro with modern, as they explore the roots of their inspiration as music fans and combine that with the skills they have developed over the years.

Their latest single is the title-track off of their upcoming debut album. “Live Out Loud” is the pinnacle song of the album and cuts two ways. The band shares, “The song was written during a period where, we felt, far sides of the political spectrum were very present. We wanted to motivate the group known as the silent middle to stand up for their (slightly more nuanced) thoughts/visions/ideas.” The trio continues, “We also wanted to seek overlap in standing up for your idea and being outgoing whilst losing oneself in the moment. We all have to live out loud more. If you don’t live life fully, you don’t live life at all. You have to live it out loud to make sense of it, because otherwise ‘you’ll never know what it’s all about.’ And if you know what it’s all about, you have to fight for it.”

Their debut album combines analog with digital. Retro with the modern. As they explore the roots of their inspiration as music fans and combine that with their music writing and production skills they have developed over the years. During the writing process, most of the band members shoot over short ideas to each other which another band member then picks up and develops. The ideas get passed along or blown off till there is an album. During this process they agreed that it felt like a second nature to be bold and make big musical gestures without the sensationalism.

This approach is not only found in the music but also in the message of the record. Why do people always have to choose between black and white? You don’t have to choose between extremes. You can be modest in your opinions but still Live Out Loud !

This is what Mike Rogers is sharing with you. Go out there and live in the moment. You don’t always have to choose sides. The music represents this throughout. All styles from opposite sides are mixed to create a perfect balance in the middle or leave the listener with an ambiguous feeling.

Roger: ‘We encourage to ask questions out loud. To share your uncertainties out loud. To say, I don’t know, yet I care. To forgive out loud. To live out loud.’

Verra Cruz form the British alt-rock infused musical project of trio Marc James (guitar/lap steel/vocals), Henry Cross (bass) & Jimmy Cooke (drums). Known for their hard-hitting anthems and signature lap steel guitar, of which they stumbled upon in a small boutique guitar shop in Memphis, TN, the three-piece band have been creating mighty, raucous tracks, laced with spiritual and personal themes.

Their latest single “King” is about the peaks and troughs we face in our lives. Written 12 years ago when singer Marc James was working building stages for festivals and events, he would dream about one day being the person to perform on them. He confides, “It was grueling work and we were barely making it, sliding into debt. It felt like my dreams were slipping away. Things were tough for me and my family and I wanted to write a song that lifted me up above the circumstances.”

The rowdy, energetic track bursts with crashing percussion, grungy guitars and fiery vocals. Emitting an overall feel-good and empowering atmosphere, “King” is an antidote to the constant barrage of “you are not enough,” that we are slammed with every day. Encouraging listeners to remember their worth, the band shares, “It’s easy to forget that our value isn’t in what we have achieved or what we have materially but we are of value no matter our circumstances. We can walk the royal way, hold our heads high. Put others first and pursue the way of love.. That’s how we win. That’s how we are kings.”

Taking influence from rock and roll greats such as Jimi Hendrix, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Rage Against The Machine, their dark chord voicing and anthemic energy come to life in a way that provokes emotion, energy and purely authentic melancholy. The band shares, « We’re not afraid to sing out about injustice in the world. Our quest for love, beauty and music has always been a way of making sense of the world. A redemptive force that brings beauty from the ashes of pain, redemption to the suffering of life. »

Verra Cruz continues to storm into the scene, surpassing sonic expectations with their flair and purely inspirational fables. With stand-out support highlights with the likes of Biffy Clyro, X is Loaded, and Switchfoot across the world stage, they’ve played at renowned venues such as the Shepherds Bush Empire, and a whole host of European festivals since the 90’s, including Download Festival! Featuring in

Kerrang!

as an ‘Incoming Band’ in 2008, their first first single “Soul Collides” was spun on BBC Radio 1 and KROQ’s Jed The Fish also featured the single as his catch of the day. Needless to say, their explosive career continues to take off.
